Hey guys, been a member here for a while but never really felt the need to post as I am proficient with the search function lol.
Anyways, what I have going on is I'm doing a 32' RV Where the Top half is gel coat and the bottom seems to be automotive paint. The owner wants it "buffed and waxed" so he can sell it. The gelcoat was oxidized to the point that it looked flat white and was really chalky.
My process is as follows:
1. Wash with Toilet bowl cleaner diluted with water.
2. Twisted wool pad with Megs #49 Heavy duty oxidation remover
3. Twisted wool pad with Megs #45 Boat and RV Polish
4. Foam pad with Megs #26 high tech yellow was
I've bought all of the stuff already and am done with steps 1 and 2, I've heard good things about Megs #26 on other sites about how good it works on RV Gel coats so I decided to go with that opposed to Boat/RV wax. Step 1 went great, the toilet bowl cleaner worked wonders as far as washing and removing the chalky film and the dark spots that looked almost pitted.
Now my question is, I've gone over the entire RV with #49 and a wool pad and everything is improved, but some spots are more "shiny" than others. Is this a problem or will the polish fix it? I know #49 is just to remove the oxidation and not really polish it, Just kind of worried about it turning out "blotchy."
