Quick question: Klasse SG over 1Z Glanz Wax?

Just a quick question for those who have tried it or might have an opinion:

I have always been impressed with the durability and protection of Einszett's Glanz Wax, but I would like to use some kind of synthetic glaze or similar product on top in order to deepen the finished look, as Glanz Wax leaves a finish as shiny and shallow as a new refrigerator...

Does the nature of Glanz Wax preclude additional layering, or will other products, such as Klasse Sealant Glaze, be able to be layered on top?

I suspect that carnuba-based traditional waxes will work, but really, I would like to use something with a little more longevity and protection than carnuba.

Let me know if you have any comments/experiences/insight into whether this will work. And please don't just tell me to go with AIO followed by Klasse SG; I have a new tin of Glanz Wax and that stuff goes a long way...

It looks like your familar with AIO, so you know it will take it all off if it doesn't look good. I've actually experimented with some sealants over others and it looks fine. If your looking for longevity like you said, I'd stick too multiple coats of one product and no others.

Wow, another New Orleans member. :welcome

I, too, like 1Z GW but I think you will run into bonding issues with trying go use SG on top of it. Then again, nobody says you can't try. All that'll happen is it won't last as long as it should.

I know you are trying to find an alternative to carnaubas but something like Collinite would make for an extremely durable finish that will look good and last a VERY long time. One more option that won't last quite as long as Collinite but will be easier to work with is Meg's old #16.

From my experience SG doesn't go over the wax, because SG bonds to paint and wax doesn't. SO the SG is going to take off the wax. From my experience and others on this site. I would do two layers of SG and a layer of the glanz wax. The shine will last. I know with P21S it last 3 months on my show cars and almost with my driven cars. Some of my customers don't even notice when it comes off. That's what I do at least. I think TOGOWT had a thread up about sealents and waxes and durability and shine

Hmmm...part of the problem I have is understanding the chemistry involved in each of the products. I understand that the Einszett Glanz Wax is a bit of a misnomer, as it is actually an extremely thin polymer in a powerful solvent base that removes any previous layers of wax or sealant. No filling properties, no polishing agents -- and subsequent layers logically dissolve the previous layer of Glanz Wax, leaving a new layer behind as the solvent evaporates.

I do not understand how the Klasse products work. If Klasse Sealant Glaze is designed to be layered, it cannot depend on fresh paint to bind to the finish; rather, it is designed to bind to the previous layer. If it binds to AIO/Sealant Glaze to allow layering, I wonder what it is about Einzsett that prevents it from bonding.

Of course, it will be hard to tell on a white car if subsequent layers of SG are actually layering on the Glanz Wax or simply rubbing off, but I will see how it goes. And the Collinite suggestion is excellent -- of course, it raises the question regarding how Collinite sticks to Glanz Wax polymer while Klasse Sealant Glaze will not. Perhaps because it is a hydrophobic layer and not a water-based acrylic like Klasse products.

Audipower: I don't understand your advice regarding putting Einszett Glanz Wax OVER anything, even something as durable as Klasse Sealant Glaze. The solvents in Einszett, to my understanding, remove absolutely everything, and layering with Glanz Wax is completely contraindicated. The Klasse Sealant Glaze, on the other hand, has no solvents or cleaners and is completely water-based, which is why I thought that it might stick to Glanz Wax and not the other way around.

ShiroChanWRX- The SG bonds to compatible products such as AIO, to bare paint, and to itself. I've even used it on bare chrome plating. Yeah, it stuck to it just fine; you could feel the SG on it.

But I don't think it will bond too well to the GW and anyhow, I don't think the SG will give you the look you're after (I've used it on light colored Subies). You want more depth, right? Tricky to achieve on clearcoated white. One of the things I don't like about KSG is that IMO it lacks some depth compared to other products like carnaubas.

For what you want to accomplish, I think the (carnauba) wax topper over the GW will work out best. Something like #26 (with oils that tend to darken/deepen a finish's look) would probably be the ticket, though I like #16 better. #16 just doesn't quite give the depth though, it's more of a "shiny" wax. Collinite might do it, but some people don't care for how it looks. If going the Collinite route (I do it on some of our vehicles, so it's not like it looks crappy), I'd go with the 476S. Given the time of year and Collinite's durability, that would probably be my choice.
