Quick PC question

I have ordered my PC from Costal Tools, which should arrive in the UK within the next few days, my questions is regarding the backing plate, is the one supplied with the PC ok to use with CMA pads or do I need the CMA plate as well.

Also, does anyone have the part number for 3M SMR, as I cannot find it on the UK site.

You can probably use the velcro pad it comes with, as long as it doesn't make anything awkward. I think a Meguiar's backing pad might be the best though, because of its lightness. Just try it (since you have it anyway) and see.

3M SMR for Light Cars: 39109

3M SMR for Dark Cars: 39009

in the 473mL size

Hope you enjoy your new toy! :wavey

In the Bonus Kit they have the 18002 backing plate - it is fine. I asked this same question about a week ago. :)

Basically, velcro is velcro, so they will work fine. I just ordered my pads from CMA today also.

Can't wait till this weekend to try everything out!

Lowejackson, that's not the case!!!! Be sure to ask for the UK adaptor kit. Our velcro twists from the right and your velcro twists from the left! I thought everybody knew that!

You ina heap of trouble, boy! :D

LOL Brad! :bow

Also, the rotaries spin backwards in Australia, just like how the water in the toilets spirals the other direction! :D

You guys have me confused. I thought that velcro was metric in Europe???:)

I have been racing Japenese motorcyles for years. I have actually grown to love the metric system! It just seems so much more simple to use whole numbers rather than fractions.

I'll take the 10mm anyday of the week over the 3/8 or whatever "our" closest size is!!!! just my .02...lol

I completely agree. I went through engineering school having to deal with both systems over and over. Prof's felt it was important to fully understand both, thus would use some of each on tests, etc...

I can't imagine that some of my time was wasted having to deal with two completely different systems (not prof's fault, but rather the world we live in). I agree that I needed to understand both, as I use both routinely.

The SI system is significantly superior in my opinion, having used both extensively.

You need to make sure the backing plate you use is matched with your PC's counter weights. If you don't, it will buzz like crazy and your hand will go numb.

That's what I (and others) also thought a while back, but it seems to be best to lighten up the backing pad relative to the weight. Here's my informal test: PC Vibration Test Before the server outage months ago, there was also this thread posted up about how a bunch of people found the small and light Meguiar's BP balanced really well with the larger 6" weight. I already have a regular PC brand BP, but I might borrow a Megs one someday and see if it's worth the switch.
