Quick Disconnects

Used QD's for the first time yesterday (brass ones from Home Depot). One problem....they leak. Just enough to run down my arm and be annoying. Is there any way to stop the leaking? Is this normal for QD's?

first things first around here QD = quick detailer

so stop confussing me!

they should not leak make sure they are tight

if that does not help maybe you got a bad set

return them for a new set

I’ve used a number of quick-connects and I haven’t had problems with any of them leaking from the quick-connect interface.

I have had leaks in the threaded hose/nozzle/whatever interface. Usually, that simply means it needs to be tightened. Sometimes the washer in the female threaded end of the nozzle/hose/whatever needs to be replaced.

My biggest complaint about Home Depot and Lowes is that they’re only selling the brass quick-connect sockets with built in shut-off valves. I hate those! They used to sell the open bore, full-flow versions, but not any more.

PC.

I use the quick disconnects from Lowe's (look identical to the ones you posted) and they don't leak. Maybe a part defect or fittings not tight enough?

Yeah you should get the gilmour brand. The orbit one that you get home depot suck. Also remember to put some telfon tape around the threads. Also should put a brass coupler on the end of you house.

Mine are leaking at the male/female junction. I'll be replacing these with the Gilmour ones. The disconnects on my Gilmour foam gun have never leaked.
