Quick Detailer question?

Will any of the quick detailers out there remove a carnuba paste wax?

I'm not trying to remove my carnuba coat, I want to keep it on there.

I would say as a general rule: No.

Detial sprays are made to clean and enhance the existing protection and finish not to remove it.

It really depends on the carnauba wax and the type of detailer.

If you are looking for a carnauba friendly quick detailer, I would suggest Pinnacle Crystal Mist Detail Spray.

The only real QD's that I use that have carnuaba in them are:

Pinnacle Crystal Mist
Sonus Carnuaba Spritz

Some LSP's and certain QD's might not play together very well. There is a guy on the other forum who had an issue with CG V7 removing his sealant, Powerlock I believe. I try to stay within the brand myself and only use them to remove bird bombs or bugs.

First of all, V7 is not a QD. Never heard of a QD removing a wax. ;)

I have argued many times that LSP removal is much harder than people think. Most of the time people just think their LSP is gone because of some residue left by the previous cleaner.

In my experience, the removal of waxes requires hard work and a lot of alkalinity, or requires a heavy hydrocarbon solvent application. Most QDs are water based and have little or no alkalinity - they are totally safe. Some will have 'easy clean' additives which leave a small residue which will inhibit beading of the underlying surface and this may confuse - the protection still remains underneath. A few QDs (or products sold by some as such) are quite heavy in hydrocarbon solvents, these do actually have the potential for lifting some of the underlying wax but they are generally the mildest of this class of solvents so would certainly not strip, perhaps degrade slightly, but nothing more.
