Questions about the products I have...

Ok, I just got my PC, and have acquired some products...but I was curious how they all stack up as far as abrasive/non-abrasive/how abrasive, etc. also, if someone could point out what I'm missing that would be helpful as well! Mostly this is just polishes...I do have clay, wax, soap, etc....but those products I pretty much have a handle on...it's all the polish/sealant that's confusing....

Abrasive- (used these w/ SFX Orange pad)

1. Hi Temp 357 Magnum

2. PB SSR 2.5

3. SFX-1

-- How much more abrasive is the 357 than the PB 2.5? If at all? Are they both medium, or is the 357 more of a heavy polish? How about the SFX-1? FWIW, the Hi Temp blew away the SFX-1 for me. Haven't tried the PB yet. Just wondering how these all stack up as far as strength goes.

Not so abrasive? (used these with a SFX Green Pad)

1. SFX-2

2. PB SSR 1

-- Again, haven't used the PB yet...are these products pretty much the same thing?

Not abrasive at all? (used this with a SFX Blue Pad)

1. SFX-3

--I used this after the 357, and I liked it alot. I applied wax afterwards and that was that. Should I have any product for AFTER the wax? Sealant? Is there a product everyone prefers over this?

So that's basically it. Are there any polishes, etc. that I'm missing, etc? I think I have pretty much every polish step taken care of, but again, not sure.

Sorry for the long post!

jbizzle22- Gee,I can't really answer most of your Qs as I've only used the 357/HC.

But IMO if things turned out to your liking with just the 357/SFX-3 combo, then all is well. The 357 finishes out pretty nicely, so you often won't need a lot of intermediate polishing steps.

Heh heh, I oughta tease you a little for buying some very similar products that you don't have a complete understanding of ;) But IMO there's nothing wrong with finding that you like one better than the other (e.g., 357 vs SFX-1).

After you apply a wax, sealants generally won't bond (to the wax). If you want to use multiple LSPs, you'd apply the sealant first and *then* the wax. But it's not like that's mandatory for a good, durable finish.

I'd just rewax now and then and/or use a leaves-something-behind QD after each wash, or consider something like AW for a final topper. But overall, it sounds like you're done. So "good job, enjoy" and watch that wash-induced marring so you don't have to repolish for a while ;)

I've only used the Sonus range of polishes & liked them all. I've yet to take on anything they haven't been able to do. That said I'm really fancying trying out the Optimum range.

As Accumulator says, waxes should go on after sealants but if you're happy with the finish after using the sealant you don't need to apply a wax too. I've just applied Megs 16 wax over Klasse SG on a metallic Honda & it pretty much killed the sparkle. :furious:

thanks guys! I didn't actually BUY all the products, but yeah, it will be nice to check all of them out to see what I like best! Thanks for the advice, at least now I know i have pretty much everything I should need.

So you would say the 357 and the SSR 2.5 are similar?

I'm sure *somebody* here has used both the SSR 2.5 and the 357 but I can't remember what's been posted about how the two compare...

IMO the 357 isn't all *that* aggressive and IMO it's good (and inexpensive) enough that you oughta give it a try if you have any serious correction to do.
