how many have Generators and how do they work? I found one at Home depot, It says it has a 4 gallon tank. How long will 4 gallons last if I am running a PC, Lights (when Polishing), and a WET/DRY vac? Are they neccessary when at a customers home?

Any info about Generators would be great, Also If you could reccomend some brands woudl be great.

I have a Pro Force generator I bought from Pep Boys. "TexasTB" has the same model. It costs about $250-$275. I believe it has a 3500 watt max rating and a 2 gallon gas tank. I can run my vac on it with absolutely no problem. Other items I run on it: PC, rotary, water pump, drill, and anything else that's electrical I use. I've had it for about a year now, and never had a problem with it. Talk about a great deal!

I would definitely recommend no less than 3000W. That should power most anything you throw at it (including an extractor and other power hungry machines).

As far as brands, I highly recommend Honda. They have a good track record of making great engines, so anything in the Honda line will work great. They have different model lines, and one of the best is the EU line. I have an eu3000is and its amazing. It has an electric start, can run up to 20 hours on 3 gallons of gas, and is EXTREMELY quiet (seriously, you can start it up and stand right next to it and have a conversation without much of a problem). It'll set you back $1800 for a new one (I picked up a used one), but if extended use from a tank of gas and noise level are important for you, then there's no comparison. Some customers really appreciate that you're not running a ridiculously loud generator at 7AM on a Saturday morning, or at an office complex.

Again, thats a top of the line unit, and having an extremely quiet generator was important for me, but it might not be for you. I'd recommend anything by Honda, though.

If the budget allows for Honda then I'd get that. Otherwise the proforce at pepboy mentioned above (I think the yellow one is 2500 watts and a red one at 3500) is a good choice. I've had mine for about a year (2500watt), paid around $250 and find it is pretty quiet. A for size figure out how many watts you expect to be using at once. Get something larger than that. I carry a 700 watt invertor to run my PC when I polish which is silent, saves gas and cuts the number of hour my generator runs. I have a 3 gallon tank and I fill it up when I fill my truck which is usually 3 times a month. Since I don't run the generator for the PC I usually just run it for vacuuming and some light steaming. It runs more in winter to heat the water. Using warm water has spoiled me some and I find even with warmer weather I'm heating water in the morning.

I have a porter cable generator, 5250 watts.I love it and never had a problem with. It is

loud. That would be my only complant. If you need a quite unit, go with the Honda.

Good luck Joe

Yes.... I have the same one. NEVER had a problem with it. Working on my 2nd year with it.

I do a tune up 2-4 times a year. (Air filter, oil, and plug)

Pro Force, made by Coleman.

I run my Mytee HP60 extractor off of it....no problems....:hifive:

I have the next one up from the one TexasTB has...it is a 3500 watt with 4220 top output...and I use it alot and never had a problem...I bought it for a power station in the winter for power outages...but use it for power tools also....when it was on sale I got it for 349.00....it starts on 1 pull and never skipped a beat.....mine is 3 years old now and I would buy another no problem if needed
