Question regarding wheel well paint..

Today as I was washing the car I was hosing the wheels wells to remove loose dirt. Well, on one of the wheel wells the black paint was rinsing right off and I could see the color of the body behind it. Not all of the paint came off, but a good portion did.

Now, I'm not the type who takes my car to car shows, but should I bother repainting that portion of the wheel well? My dad said there's undercarriage paint I could get, but is it necessary to prevent future rust? :nixweiss

In FLA its prolly not a big issue. It was likely some thin undercoating to minimize road noise. A can of undercoating spray is only a few bucks so its certainly a easy task to fix if you were so inclined. Your call.

Bret is correct, undercoating paint can be picked up at any local autobody supply store and is pretty cheap. I would just pick up a can and fix the problem.

Hey the exact same thing happend to me. I was using the "Jet" mode on my nozzle and I used a brush to scrub under there and when I rinsed the under coating just started falling off. But my car is a '94 w/ 150k miles. So I just put the tire back on and forgot about it.

As long as it has paint underneath it, there wont be any prob. with rust or anything.
