Question on which POORBOY'S WORLD products to use?

RANDAL

IOWA BOY
Last night at a little after 7pm I received a call from an older gentleman that lives about 7 miles away. Id never dream he would call. He has a mid 60's MERCURY CYCLONE and its orange. It is as stock as possible, still has GR78/15 tires on it. Hes kind of different. He wasnt been on N36 a county highway 4 miles east of him since 1966 according to his renter. Hadnt been to the county fair since mid 50's. Hasnt been on the interstate ever. Hasnt been to Des Moines since the 50'2 either. OK now on with the question. This car has never been waxed since new. He doesnt know how to choose or use. I figure it will need washed well, clayed, polished a couple times, maybe glazed, and and LSP product of either EX ,PWS, or one of the Nattys. Iver got UDMS and rotaries to use PBs products such as PP, ssr1,2.5,3 ,PWS,White Diamond and Black Hole plus Ex at the end. Do I test an area with a SSR or PP first?!? I wantr to do this with as much knowledge as possible. I dont know what the paint is going to be like. Im only using and have PBs product so please dont reccommend other lines of products, thats why Im asking this is the PBs forum. Thanks guys and gals, RANDAL in COOOOL IOWA!:dcrules:thanks

Single stage paint - I'd probably start with Pro Polish and a light polishing pad on an easy speed in an inconspicuous area to start with the polishing phase. I'd definitely not want to mess that paint up.

I'd either go that way or you could use PwC / PwS
Oxidation is the main culprit to deal with and using a mechanical abrasive would be a last resort since you don't have a paint guage. You will need a few pads as the dead pigments will be coming off in large volume. If you find the paint has checkered, then be real careful or you could start an avalanche of problems. It the paint is really rough, you may need to do a light wet sanding and forget about clay. Of course pictures would help, but I know that might be difficult for you ;) unless you go to your parents to post them.

 Wash the Car with 50/50 P/B APC...
This will cut out alot of the Oxidation,This will also cut down your pad usage.:bigups
Boy its Guys/Cars like this that makes life intresting
This would be an excellent car to do a write up on.:rockon

Will do at least a write up when I do it. May try the APC part but diluted quite a bit more to start. I have plenty of pads as my last order was 24 pads in black and white for both udm and rotary. Ill try either the Pro polish or PWS as I dont have any PWC, IM not ordering any either Ive got plenty of other similiar products on hand. Should I just leave out the clay?!? Ill take pictures just to see the turn around. Thanks for the advice guys.

you will have to see the paint condition before deciding on whether to use clay or not ...
