I havent seen anyone on this board post anything about 3m waffle style pads.....the black for polishing and the yello for cutting.....Are there any bad reviews...?

I used a yellow waffle pad but is was from Pro products. I liked it, and it seemed to not catch on the paint as much as a regular pad.

I think the reason you don't see those pads talked about here is because there's so many better chooses when it comes to pads . Thats the plain and simple of it . Its kind of like why we don't talk about turtle wax here , there's better stuff out there. JMO .

Well what is it about those pads that make them inferior?

I used them a long time ago on a rotary and they seemed to hop a lot...:dunno
maybe they've made them better since then ..if it's a good deal try them and let others know what you think:)

I used a 3m waffle pad once. I needed a pad and ran to the local body supply shop and that was all they had at the time. I grabbed it and came home to use it. It was garbage! It was destroyed by the time I was done with it because the fingers catch on everything and it took FOREVER to break down the products.

Wow....reason I ask is because that is the only pad that I used in the past and I found in the beginning that they shreaded because of my lack of experience...I actually find the flat pads are the ones that break apart....But that is my experience...I am hunting down a lower machine...but I dont get any hops and I am using a 2300 speed.....my pads last forever as well...but that is just me

There is NOTHING wrong with the 3M waffle pad, The design is for cooling the paint [keep down heat build up] while using a product. Works great for me but I also use a flex pad for better coverage / usage.

Most of what you read is opinion based on each individual's experience ... at least that is what I base my posts on.
If you have something that works well for you, is easy to obtain, and is priced reasonable; then by all means use it. Is there something better out there ... maybe ... but then again ... maybe not.
When it comes to buffing pads there are too many variations, from amount of product, RPM, speed of movement, pressure applied, condition of paint, hardness of paint, operator technique ... and the list goes on to really say that one pad is better than another.
