I just picked up a 12 oz. can of Collinite no. 885 at a local marine store after hearing countless good reviews on this wax from Autopians. I plan on prepping my car for another long Michigan winter this weekend. How long are you people leaving it on the surface? I know that it is a good idea not to let it dry or haze. My question is this, what is a good time length to let it dry on the paint surface, 2-3 minutes or longer? Thanks :xyxthumbs

I recently applied Super Double Coat which I understand to be the automotive equivalent of #885. I didn't let it sit too long maybe 1-2 minutes. It wasn't too difficult to remove. On my tailgate I let it sit for greater than 5 minutes. You could tell a big difference, as it was pretty tough to remove.
I'd have to say in general it isn't as bad as it's reputation. I'm just spoiled by using supper easy waxes, e.g. Blitz and S100.

GTI2001 - What NHBFAN said :xyxthumbs I sometimes use the wipe-on-wipe-off method (as used with Souveran) and it works fine. Does NOT seem to adversely effect the durability very much if at all.
Note that *I* USUALLY apply Collinite with a PC, really working it quite a bit during application to ensure complete/thorough/uniform coverage. I use a plastic razor blade to put it on the PC's pad and apply at +/- speed 4.5. By the time I've finished a panel, it's already hazed a bit and is ready to take off.

don't let it sit on for long, do maybe half a panel, then wipe off. Make sure to use a damp applicator, or you will have a bear of a time applying and wiping.

My method of applying Collinite is to use a foam applicator pad, misted with Pinnacle CM. Apply to either one small section, door, fender, etc. or half a large panel, then buff off with a dry MF towel.
I usually follow up by going over the entire car with either a dry MF or one that is just slightly damp with some distilled water to remove any remaining dust and to remove it from any cracks or emblems.
Having used many many waxes over the years it is not really that much more difficult to remove than any other products.
