Question for Zainoids.. tips on using it in the cold?

The forecast for this weekend is mid-upper 40's. Of course, that can change since the weather guy is so reliable, right?

Anyway, just wondering if you guys have any tips for speeding up the Zaino curing process when it's cold outside. I know the website says that it will take 2-3 hours per layer for the full cure in sub-50's weather. Just wondering if there's anything else.. like does ZFX help it along at all? I have some of that stuff on the way this week.

Thanks.

I haven't tried it in temps quite that cold, dawgdan. If you don't get some relevant replies here in time, I'd suggest you call Zaino or call your own Zaino distributor. (Who'd you buy your Z from? I buy mine from Steve Treece at Carolina Shine, and I've found his service/advice to be superb!)

I've done straight Z2 or Z5 (w/o ZFX or Z1) in temps like 40s and 50s. I do this if I've done a coat w/zfx maybe a few coats ago. It does take a little longer to set. I think I wait about an hour do a smear test and can usually take it off. If the air is "dry" it seems to take less time. Speed up the wait time....ya got me :nixweiss

Lynn, I bought mine directly from them using their new online ordering system. www.zainostore.com

I'm gonna give it a shot this weekend if the rain holds off. Wish me luck, the car needs it badly! 5600 miles, no paint protection! :(

Good luck, dawgdan! :up No matter who you bought it from (Zaino direct or a distributor), don't hesitate to call them to ask questions about application. They're generally pretty good.

I just wish I was still in Atlanta! Your version of "winter" is something to envy. :bow

Sal will tell you that it takes longer to cure when its cold or humid. Its the nature of the product. Zaino has almost no solvents so there's no help there.

There's no time/curing formula either. Just use it as directed and be patient. It'll work fine.

In my experience, ZFX will make cold-weather Z-ing a much faster affair. I've applied ZFXed Zaino in the mid-40's before, and it was ready to remove within about 1/2 hour, no problems. If no ZFX, as bretfraz said, just be patient, and aware that your drying time may be extended quite a bit by the weather.

Yes, the ZFX will help greatly in the curing time. People Zaino in freezing and near freezing temps all the time. Don't worry, just be a little patient.

I'm still waiting until I can even get water out of my hose....-6 degrees is no temperature to be washing a car.

As long as it stays above freezing, you're fine using it straight out of the bottle or with ZFX. Before ZFX it would take more than 8 hours to dry with temperatures in the low 40s.

Use ZFX and it will dry in 20 moinutes.
