How long does it usually take you guys to apply poli-seal by PC on a sedan?



I gave it a try this week and it took me about 2 hours for the whole car. It was done on a 06 civic sedan. The results were great, but i was wondering if there's any tips to speed up the process? I had my PC on 3 to spread the product, then I set it to 6 to work it in, only one pass. I only have one whtie pad right now, its an edge pad though so its reversable. Does spurring the pad after each panel keep the product from gumming up?
 
OPS doesn't gum up when used correctly. As Ron said, you are using too much.



The trick is with OPS that you can't see it on the surface as it works without leaving a trace, film or residue.



If you want to spur a white foam pad, it will be history. You need a small brush to clean the soft foam. But with the correct amounts it is usually unnecessary, because (repeat) it won't gum up on the pad. You may observe that OPS is able to pull dirt even from a thoroughly cleaned surface. In this case wash your pad and use a new one or use the other side.
 
I used a LC white pad to do a Dodge Durango - only took 35 minutes. I start with a thin X on the pad, then I add a little more per panal. I spread it on with the speed set on 4, then make two passes - one up and down, the other left to right on speed 5 and it's done, a quick wipe with a MF towel and you're ready to hit the next area. I tried PS with my Makita and a blue Edge pad, but it didn't seem to work as good, the pad pulled a lot of crud out and it got gummy - had to use the pad brush quite often. BTW - anybody got a good method of cleaning pads after PS and OP? I've been using an old toothbrush and XMT cleaner in the sink.
 
I massage them thoroughly in warm water first with APC, then with a good old soap bar. Then rinse them a few times, wringing them by hand, then spin dry on rotary on 3000. Some closed cell pads can hold the water very effectively so they need a very thorough wringing before the rotary session...



When the OPS pulls crud & dirt from the paint, well, that's superior cleaning efficiency. The hard thing is that you have to simply trust the product that it will provide a sufficient buffing film on the surface. You won't see it, so you have to believe that it does the right thing. And it does indeed.
