question about washing

I apply polish every 3 months or so. I wax after every wash during the summer, every 2 weeks. When it's colder...eh, maybe every 4-6 weeks.
 
Do not wax every week. If anything, just use a detail spray to enahnce it. Anything over 2-3 coats of wax is overdoing it imo.
 
it depends on a lot of things, mostly your climate and how often it sits outside. for a car parked out 24/7 in intense heat, i'd say to wax 2 - 3 times a week (or sealant once every few months). if you're garaged every night then maybe wax 3-5 weeks, and if you're garaged at work as well as at home, then wax once every 4-6 weeks. Something around there.



if you wash a lot, like more than 2x every 3 weeks, then you might shorten your wax life. also depends on the strength of the detergent. also remember that the protective properties of the wax can only do so much for your car, so you can never depend on wax protection in lieu of regular washings.



by the way, going by your screen name.. do you have a supra? or is300?

I agree. Also, CCD your car every day to save yourself from washing your car every week. That or use a car cover. Heck, my car is fine after 3 weeks as long as I take care of the bugs on the front.



raymond_ho2002, you meant 2-3x a month right? 2-3x a week is a bit much.
 
Unless you just *want* to do this stuff, wash/polish/wax it when it needs it.



Wash it when it's dirty.



Polish it when the finish has marring and/or oxidation.



Wax/seal it when whatever LSP you're using looks like it needs refreshing.



Generally, you should be able to wash a vehicle quite a few times before you need to rewax it.

yeah i meant once every 2 - 3 weeks for carnauba wax. sorry about the confusion and the late reply =D
