Question about Sonus/Klasse system

Hi everyone,

I'm starting a regimen for my infiniti i30 that has never been waxed before. So far, I got these products in my mind:

Wash: Meguiars Gold Class Shampoo (I already have)

Clay: Clay magic w/ their lubricant

Polish: Sonus SFX-1 and SFX-2 (w/ their pad in a bundle)

Wax: Klasse AIO

In between waxes, after each wash: Sonus Acrylic Glanz

What do you guys think of this lineup? In other words, im getting the Sonus hand polishing bundle and the Klasse-Clay-Lube bundle as well. Should i get the Klasse SG instead of AIO? I have a REALLY tight budget and the cheaper the better. I was looking at the Zaino system and it looked like a lot of work and added up to a lot of money too. The shine is not as important as the product logitivity, as the swirls are the ones that drive me nuts. Thanks for any comments.

I revised the list:

Wash: Meguiars Gold Class Shampoo (I already have)

Clay: Meguiars clay and lubricant

Polish: Sonus SFX-1 and SFX-3 (w/ their pad in a bundle)

Wax: Klasse SG

In between waxes, after each wash: Sonus Acrylic Glanz

How does that sound? Do you guys recommend another combination?

EDIT: actually, would the acrylic glanz work with the AIO? thanks

You've revised to SG only from AIO. My only question is if the SG will bond over the Sonus polishes as well without the AIO first? Hopefully someone will chime in on that one.

I would bet that the Glanz works fine over the AIO as it's the same acrylic as the SG but with cleaning ability.

Lastly to add my 3cents... I don't think the Zaino system is any more labor intensive than what you have planned but I have found that the Zaino system may enhance some swirl marks if the surface is not properly and completely prepped while the Klasse is a tad better at hiding things if you are into that. For me the longevity has been similar with layered coats of either LSP; SG or Z2Pro/Z5 but for me, using AIO alone, longevity has been less than using it in combo with the final step.

The Zaino would likely need a Z-6 spray wipe down before application after the Sonus polishes as mentioned to me in another thread.

It's unlikely that you'll be able to remove swirls by hand, at least without having very sore arms after working the entire day.

Your process is fine. Clay/Polish/Cleaner/LSP. That's the order, and which product you use for each step doesn't matter a whole lot. The differences will be subtle.

Yes, the Acrylic Glanz would work fine over AIO.

Can you order SG instead of AIO? No. They serve different purposes, and SG works best when it's over AIO.

For the record, AIO and SG are not waxes. They are synthetic acrylic sealants, and AIO has terrific paint cleaning ability.

thanks for the input guys....

I was hoping to at least reduce the swirling by hiding/buffing out a little, and then seal it with the AIO. Then if my budget (but mainly arms...) permit, ill get the SG. Ill try to post some before and after pics when i get it done. Thanks for the help!!

well i ordered $100 (ouch!) worth of products (a bittersweet time for me...) I splurged for the aio and sg combo. :D

Line up...

Wash: gold class shampoo

clay: pinnacle poly clay

polish: sonus polishes

then finish off with: klasse aio and sg

maintenance: sonus acylic glanz

So, I guess thats it....waiting for the ups man now. Oh, 1 more question: can I just dilute the car shampoo and use that as a lube? Many thanks for the tip guys.

After you wash the car, and before drying, just get a fresh bucket of suds and go back around the car with suds and clay. I do it panel by panel and rinse and dry as I go. When you're done you shouldn't have to rewash. Have fun!

All In One is a polish, probably the best on the market.

SG is a sealant. I've used it for years but its not the easiest to work with. Try diluting one shot glass of SG with 2 shots of spring water and pour it into a spray bottle. This is enough to cover a medium size car once. Let it sit overnight before buffing off.

The sonus SFX are swirl removers and not usually really referred to as polishes because most polishes don't remove swirls. If you're not satisfied see if you can return them. I wasn't too impressed with those swirl removers and I was using a PC orbital buffer. I'm using Poor Boy's SSR 2.5 this weekend.

Also, the Klasse products are really only meant to be used a few times a year and you migh be better off using the Acrylic spray for layering the SG. I usually do 6 coats. And then I put Klasse away to the back of the cabinet.

for monthly use or after washing I would get a wax like Finish Kare Pink Wax, Poor Boy's Natty's, etc.

And then a booster like Finish Kare 425 or FX100 (there isn't another product like this) which will let dust roll off because its super slipery.
