Question about paint hardness

I'm looking for some input on the hardness/softness of the paint on a 2002 Porsche 911... only work I've had on more modern Porsche paint hasn't been any correction, just basic wash & wax jobs. Just trying to figure out what to expect going into this job in a week or 2.

Thanks, any input is appreciated.

I never concern myself with how hard or soft a clear coat is.

I just do a test section starting with the least abbrasive method and work my way up until i find the combo that works.

Assuming that each brand/marque has a specific 'hardness' to the finish is naive.

So many variables come into play... A VW made in Brazil will differ from the Mexican product, and also from the German variant. Paints very from year to year, from color to color.

Your environment (heat, humidity, etc) can influence the process.

Evaluate each individual finish with a test area, and proceed.

Good Luck!

But what Grouse said is always staple. Do a test section with your first step/combo and see if it works. That's the only true way to see what's gonna work.

Of course. I never just dive headlong into a job and start buffing with a random pad and compound... I was just curious as to what to expect going in.

Thanks for all the tips guys.
