question about PA Rain & new windshield.

I`m getting a new windshield in my truck next week, my question is should I still buy Cristal? I know a fresh off the lot cars paint can still benefit from being worked on, but I don`t know if brand new glass needs to be prepped or polished. And if I should prep it, should I use regular pads, or the Carpro glass ones?

if its new I`d imagine the rain 9h kit with polish and coating would be just fine

you may want to PM Ray Vega as he put that on his vehicle a month or so ago and could probably give you some feedback on it
 
I would use the Cristal even on a new windshield. The directions for it sat to use a polishing pad with it to prep. It is my feeling it is a very mild polish and mainly a prep for the 9H. I just did the windshield of my EX`s Kia and didn`t notice till I was applying the 2nd coat of 9H that there were some wiper trails in the glass (had to be at the right angle and light to see) that were left after I polished. If I had seen them 1st I would of at least used a MF pad and a compound to see if I could remove but were so light I never saw even when I was polishing with Cristal and wiping away the residue. I have ordered some carpro glass pads and ceriglass polish since tho.

I don`t know if replacement glass comes with a protective film of not but I would prep with the Cristal just in-case it does to be safe an be confident on proper prep.
 
A regular pad should be sufficient for polishing new glass and as far as I know I`ve never heard anything about off gassing glass. Pretty sure that only applies to paint or maybe rubber.
 
Thanks for the replies, and thank you 512detail for mentioning there`s a PA kit here, I was looking at rain + cristal. The kit`s like $20 cheaper then buying both. Will order that and do it according to PA`s instructions. Guess since the new glass shouldn`t have any defects that need correcting I`ll use the white Scholl pads I have.
