Question about ONR washing technique

Actually, the polymers in ONR will add slickness and gloss and still clean effectively on paint that is not waxed.

Scott--I agree, but guess I'm just nervous when the car is caked with sand and salt in the winter--that base layer of LSP adding slickness just seems to make the ONR work that much better. BTW--I found these mitts and find them to be great to use with ONR Micro Fiber Mitts | Microfiber

Onr produces at least one imperfection somewhere on the paint , i did a test on an old 1994 cavalier that i removed all swirls using m 105 ultra cut compound using the g110 and did an ONR wash and mild swirls were present, ever since then i never trusted it again.

Curious does ONR speed up your regular wash any or does it still take about the same time?

I've found that it lets me move a little faster for three reasons.

1) Don't have to move the car in and out of the garage before/after washing. I just wash it in the garage.

2) No hose to wind and less stuff to clean

3) I miss stuff when washing with suds and sponge since the suds can obscure my view of the paint. ONR allows me to be thorough the first time around.

It's possible the same would have happened with a traditional wash as well.

My fiancee has a dark blue Scion tC that swirls easy! I can use ONR on it without any problems. I am extremely careful and I use deep pile MF towels during the initial drying pass to lessen the chance of dragging dirt on the surface.

thats why i am always careful when washing, i hate producing swirls and i am started to wonder if touching the car less often would be better than washing it two times a week

How do you know you didn't wash out any oils that #105 leaves behind that filled in what it didn't remove? I use ONR on black cars all the time and I have no marring issues. Never had any when I was using QEW either. Frankly, I always had problems with marring and drying streaks when conventionally washing cars. Nothing major most of the time but for me, ONR is much more goof proof.

Aside from speeding up my wash time, ONR relieves me of the worry about washing under the hot sun since I can wash inside the garage. Therefore I don't have to schedule washes early in the morning or late in the afternoon when the sun's not so hot as I do with traditional wash. I can wash with ONR anytime.

Oh and yes I have absolutely no marring issue, with 2 vehicles being washed with ONR.

The more I read, the more excited I get. I'm definitely going to try ONR this winter.

Another question, can you put ONR into a foam gun? I'm assuming it won't foam up, but you could use it as a pre-soak for when the car is really dirty.

I think hosing of the worst dirt isn't a bad idea if you have that option. That is what I did when I first used ONR, just to learn the technique right and not risk marring.

I now use it if the car isn't very dirty, but mostly I wash conventionally since I have a warm garage, a hose and drain.

I'm loving ONR so far! I'm not blown away by ONR as a QD though. I plan on buying some FK425 for QD'ing and using ONR for washing, clay lube, and polish removal/lubricant.

I've been impressed with every Optimum product so far. OPP, OOS, and ONR are excellent products. I just got a sample of their Polish and Compound and plan on giving it a go sometime this weekend. I also plan on getting some OCW but the garage is starting to overflow with products!

I've had zero issues with ONR marring. I've used it with a chemical sprayer for pre-soak and then followed with the Lowe's GS using two buckets. My ultimate goal is using a pressure washer to get all the grime off then ONR'ing the whole car.

Sounds like John Deere is being hasty with his conclusion of this product. It's been top notch from my experience so far.
