I having doing some reaserch on some products I want to use in the spring and one I was really thinking of using was Megs DACP untill I just read somewhere that it contains rich polishing oils to make a great shine.

Does this mean that it wont do alot to she scratches and swirls other than fill them in with oils so they will return again after it rains or the wax wears out?

Also would you reccomend any other products such as DACP?

Here is the description i found:

Moderate abrasive power removes light to medium contamination. A touch more aggressive than Meguiar's Swirl-Free Polish, our Dual Action Cleaner Polish effectively deals with more significant stains, swirls, blemishes and oxidation. Its safe, Buffered Abrasiveâ„¢ cleaning action attacks defects while guarding your finish against scratches.Rich polishing oils ensure a memorable shine. Made For Professionals.

DACP is a must have in your arsenal for the perfect appearing finish. DACP has more polishing action than filling actions. The high gloss is produced mainly by is diminishing polishing agents. Not oils. On my dark color cars ( blacks and reds) I follow the DACP with the Menzerna twins (IP & FP). On my silver metallic daily driver I just use the DACP. On the vehicles I apply Zaino I will do a Z7 wash.

DACP is definitely one of Meguiar's finer user friendly and great result obtaining products. :xyxthumbs

Is DACP too aggresive to use on newer finishes?

Good question.

My thought process on what product to use when restoring my finishes is the severity of the surface marring that needs to be repaired. New or old if the marring requires a heavy-cut polishing agent, that's my "starting" point. If the surface marring is very mild a paint cleanser like GEPC may be all that is needed.

I have seen some new cars on dealer lots that require not only an aggressive polishing agent but have also graduated to a rotary repair. :wavey

I really wouldn't use the term "newer" or "older" finishes. I have seen brand new cars with paint defects that DACP wouldn't touch and I've seen 15 year old cars that wouldn't even necessitate Swirl Free Polish. Its really all a matter of paint condition. With that said, I use DACP as my main swirl remover because its not going to go through the clearcoat because it is so aggressive.

The Menzerna twins have NO fillers and the IP is about a 5 on Megs agressiveness scale. Start with something in the 3-4 range first and only step up to the DACP if necessary, and even then only on the "bad spots". I would recommend using FP as the last step before applying wax/sealant/finish of any kind.

You can always do a wipedown using 50/50 isopropyl alcohol and water to remove ANY fillers from products that use them. Or a Blue Dawn wash....
