QEW and Zaino

Would it be ok to wash using QEW, then use my Zaino detail spray on the whole car, then apply some Z5?

Is this a bad idea?

QEW has some form of protectant that I am not sure will be removed by Z6. I believe it would be best to do a normal wash (Z7), Z6 wipedown than layer the Z5.

Actually I don't think QEW has protection, but I think it has an oil of some sort that is used as a lubricant. However, I also think Protectall adds a degreaser because the surface is quite squeeky after the wash. This is a complete guess but it makes sense to be because of the way QEW smells and reacts. Anyhow, I have used it often with Zaino and it works fine for me w/o any steps.

But the QEW shouldn't strip the zaino off right?

So you are saying that it is fine to go straight to the z5 after using QEW?

To be honest I haven't tried QEW over Zaino, I always use Z7 or TOL BB after a Zaino treatment. I can only say the QEW works well for me as a pre-Zaino treatment. Maybe give it a try and let us know, I assume it will not strip it.

What is a good way to tell if it did strip the Zaino off?

QEW will not strip the existing Zaino. QEW will also not leave a virgin surface after it use. QEW does leave behind a protectant.

Will QEW residue effect the bonding of Zaino? :nixweiss

It is always a good rule to do a complete wash and good rinse prior to adding a protectant of any sorts in my book. QEW may clean the surface but where is the rinse that eliminates all the micro particulates that could lead to micro-marring? If you were going to polish prior to Z5 this would not be a potential hazardous missed step, but you are going from QEW wash to protectant (Z5).

The small amount of time saved verses the potential for micro-marring does not seem worth it . It takes alot longer to correct these surface imperfections in the long run IMO.

I've been using QEW and Zaino, can't say that I've seen any problems yet.But if your in doubt don't do it.I mean your paint will not all of a sudden start to fall off will it.What's the most that can happen?Try it, if it works out "great".If you don't like the results start over with something different.
