QD on fresh paint????

Hi I know I need to wait 90 days before I can wax a fresh paint. Do you know if I can use Clearkote Quick Shine tho?



How about Vanilla Moose Glaze?

Yes, it is perfectly fine, just make sure its not something that protects the paint or seals it in. I know a good polish called M80 Speed Glaze that has a paintable polymer in it and is safe for using on freshpaint, although its not a QD, its something that would help.

120 days before you put wax or seal on fresh paint i got this straight from dupont paint tech.
 
I wish Dupont (and all the others) would get their people together and come up with a colaborative assessment on this. I've heard times ranging from 30-120 days. Makes me doubt anything they say really.
 
Yeah...at best we'll agree to disagree. And yeah I'm gonna keep erring on the side of caution.



I use Meg's #34 on fresh repaints.



I *hear* that OCW is OK according to Ford if you really want to try waxing.



Oh, and I'd be a little careful with #80. Its mild abrasives can have a bit too much initial cut for some still-curing repaints (voice of experience).



I just had the MPV's oe wheels repainted and I'll be using Meg's #5 on them for the next few months same as I always do when something gets repainted. Hmm..or maybe I'll use up some of my old 3M IHG :think:

Well the only thing i can say Dave is i spoke direct to a Dupont tech over the phone and also got a email from them saying the same. Yes you have a good point

While talking to the dupont person i also asked him if this 120 day is just for dupont paint and he said no it's for most paints in general that are being used to date, i am sure you will get a difference answer from another vendor, but for now 120 day is what was said .

this is funny, I work at a dealership with my brother in the detail shop, my brother washed the owners swirled to crap sts v today and kinda scrubbed something on the hood off, when he dried it, it was this like he took an sos pad to it, I just took AM bc 2(cleaner wax) on a foam app pad and it came right out, concluding this thing has uber soft paint, then it dawned on me, I had waxed this right after it had been repainted becuase the body shop manager told me to , 2x, (i just do what im told to there) We also have a bake booth,



...........so im gonna say its not good to wax for a while
 
At our shop we use products by Wizards and have a great results.



This is what we use as a "QD," contains no wax, solvents or silicone

I emailed Clearkote CSR and got the reply right away



Our Q.S. is a water based polish. It has NO SILICONES OR WAX in it. If you put it on new paint it will not effect the curing process. It will allow the paint to gas.
