PVC sponges

What's that smell?
Love those PVC sponges, but after I used one and washed it out it dried hard as a rock. It came right back to new after wetting it, but that means I can't use it for UPP, which requires a dry applicator. It that right? Do they lose their softness when dry once they're washed? I think that after it's washed and softened up, you could probably remove enough water with a MF cloth to virtually dry it, but is that the only way? Thanks.

The PVA applicators will harden when left to dry. The only way to soften them is to moisten them with water. I have not tried using a PVA with UPP, so I'm not sure if they are compatible. I've only used the regular round yellow foam applicators (dry) with UPP.

I would just wring it out thoroughly, if want check with Dwayne about how damp an applicator can be to spread the UPP:)

While I don't remember the specifics, I'm pretty sure Don used a damp applicator to apply UPP with no problems.

I have used the small yellow applicators lightly sprayed with UGE with good results. Seemed to make the UPP v.2 spread a little easier.

I have about 6 of them, and have used the for UPP all the time. In fact that is what I thnk they do best. I wash them out the same way I clean a pad, then lay them on a terry towel and press hard to get the water out. I store them in a zip lock plastic bag. They stay moist in the bag and when ready to use just squezze them between my hand hard and they are ready to go.

I love the way you can get a thin application UPP with them
