Purple foamed wool w/Poliseal

Will be doing a white Range Rover tomorrow and was wondering what kind of results would be had with the combo mentioned in the title. I have done this car on several other occasions, but never did any actual polishing. I'm not looking to get into a true paint correction with it, but would like to improve some of the marring while adding protection in one step.



I don't want to have to go over it again with a milder pad after the wool. Can this be done without experiencing any noticeable micromarring or holograms, or would something like an orange pad be a better option? Also, regarding what machine to apply it with... I have a rotary, pc and pneumatic air sander (rotates in an oscillating pattern like the pc). Which one would be the best choice? I'm kinda partial to the air sander due to it's ease of use with the palm activated trigger and compact size, but would like to know if the others would yield better results.
 
I wouldn't do a 1 step with PFW, regardless of machine. It's a bit strong and would be very easy to leave some light halos/trails with a rotary and likely wouldn't leave a great finish with a DA. I have done 1-step corrections with an orange pad, 106FF, and a DA with good results, but I haven't bothered to try anything stronger as far as pad choice.
 
Okay, thanks. I guess I'll just use the PS with an orange pad then, which is what I usually use when doing a one step process. Was just wondering if the purple wool would be able to correct a bit better without the risk of inducing any further micromarring of it's own. I would try the 106 and orange pad, but that involves more time and steps than what the customer is expectant of.
 
IMHO I think your original idea, PFW and Poliseal, will give you what your looking for. I've become a big fan of wool in general and PFW has done some amazing things for me. Why not just do a test and see for yourself.

For that matter, I dunno how people can live with the finish that orange foam (not *Griot's* orange foam, but anybody else's) leaves behind. Even on the hardest clear it just doesn't do it for me.



If I were gonna one-step something, I'd use the Griot's orange foam, or maybe one of the various green foams that're out there.
 
Wouldn't it be better to save the PFW pad for a harder polish? It would never cross my mind to PFW+poliseal.
 
One step with twisted wool and PO85 via rotary at 1800rpm.. ftw. Haha (disclaimer: not my fault if it isn't obvious I am joking).

Yeah, that's what some of us are thinking. I never use PFW with anything except very aggressive products, and I often use *those* products with milder foam anyhow if that'll get the job done.

The only time I've busted out my PFW was when removing the wetsanding haze/tracers from my cobra, with my 3401 - I think it finished out LSP ready....I did some 50/50 areas of sip+pfw, and sip+pfw, followed by 106+black, and they looked identical.
