Purdy Z06

From reading the thread the driver is fine. Just so everyone knows.

I thought it was so strange, because I had just seen this thread on Autopia on Friday, and then today saw those pics. With the Hoosier sticker it was unmistakable!

HOLY SMOKES!!! MY BEAUTIFUL CAR!!! AHHHH, ok, i need to call him and see if that thing is even recoverable. Wow, he lives down the street from me, i just got back from college for spring break, ill keep you guys updated......what an autopian shame

:shocked WOW :shocked

I wondered why this thread had come back so quickly......looks like BlueRanger's got his next job lined up........

ALRIGHT, back from spring break, and back with pics. Heres the story behind the crash: They were just messin around, racing around that 2.5 mile track, and he was in the lead, about to lap the last place person, anyways, he goes tearin around the corner (racing with traction control off), and some1 had thrown dirt and rocks up onto the track, and he hit that comin out of the corner, and the vette spun out. Here are some pics of the damage: WARNING, ITS REALLY PAINFUL!

Its really not that bad, but DANG, fiberglass is expensive, the whole front clip and right front fender are getting replaced, hopefully they can glass the rest...OK, so now onto the cleaning process, he really wanted me to focus on the inside, since it was going in to get worked on he really didnt care much about the outside since it will be sitting for a while. WOW, it was really really really dirty, as you can see from the crash pics, just imagine all taht dirt in the car (you have to race with your windows down) I started with his air compressor, and blew out everything, vents, cracks, crevices, headliner, etc....Then vacummed, the wiped down with AA, then i finished with 303. On the leather i used woolie (very impressed) and dressed with 303. Total on the inside, QEW outside, and engine wipedown was 4.5 hours. I was extrememly pleased with the interior results...

QEW, 2 bucket method. This was my first experience with it, and all i can say is wow, i am really impressed with how it works, my new soap of choice, i was really really skeptic of using it, like everybody else, but i went ahead an ordered some, no regrets, you all should try it

Nice work! Interior looks great!

Please keep us updated as when he gets it fixed and oh, how much its gonna run him :D.

Nice work on the interior. I hated to see a brother Z06 like that.

Tell me what you used on the leather? Please no abbreviations, I'm new to the forum and don't know what the different products are by the short hand.

Thanks for the update and the pics.

ok, first of all, heres a link for you that was very very helpful when i was a noob, i still refer to it.

Onto you questions, on the leather i used woolite laundry detergent avaible at any grocery store, diluted 6:1 with water. I sprayed it on the leather, and used a nylon brush to agitate and clean the leather. I then wiped off with a terry towell, and i was very impressed by how soft, and clean the leather was. I then used 303 aerospace protectant (protects from UV rays) on it, applied it with a sponge. This made the leather a bit shinnier. I didnt buff off, i just left it, so if you wanted a more "natural" look, im sure you could have done that. Now, im not sure if i should have used some sort of conditioner as an in between step, SO if i should have, autopians, please chime in, so I can add this to my process. Otherwise, I was very happy with the resuslts i got. You can find 303 here, it is pretty steep in price, but a very good product.
