PSA: Check your tires

Just wanted to give everyone a friendly maintenance reminder to check ALL of your tires. I've been noticing a strange vibration on my steering wheel recently and decided to check my tires but the ones I checked were in great shape. It wasn't until I turned my front tires that I noticed only my drivers side front tire had clear signs of premature wear.

Looks like improper camber wear :/ So I'll be replacing the front two tires tomorrow with Goodyear's and an alignment.

Good catch! Sorry its too late to save it. At least they were reaching the end of their life anyway (judging by the tread depth on the other side of the tire)

Sorry, Vega! Glad you caught it in time :bigups

For us northerners, now's also a good time to double check your tire pressure & top off any loss from the winter.

IMO this is another reason why it's good to do the underneath at every wash, easier to check everything out.

Plus, Accumulatorette and I both do a brief "pre-flight inspection" *every* time we take a vehicle out for the day. EVERY. TIME. I glance at the tread, but I sorta doubt that she does (she's good about noticing minor deflation though).

Some vehicles simply don't wear tires evenly. A number of out Audis were/are that way. Eh, at the inflation pressures at which my vehicles handle best, they wear in the middle anyhow, but the AWD Audis *still* tend to wear the inside of both rear tires, been like that since the '80s.

And yeah, if you haven't checked the tire pressure for a while, oughta do that. Better to check it regularly, even if they're filled with nitrogen. I'll refrain from my usual "you need higher tire pressure than you think you do, DON'T go by even tire wear" lecture ;)
