Prtecting trim during waxing?

Agreed. Every hardware store in America sells some kind of painters tape, aka 7 day release tape.

Some people apply a dressing onto trim before PCing but I don't like that. My concern is getting some dressing onto your pad while polishing then smearing it around the car unwittingly.

Trust me, 10 mins of taping off trim is well worth the effort when machine polishing.

painters tape works great.

I have bought some tape from my local auto body supply store. it was not as thick as painters tape and was made for applying to auto paint. it worked just as good, the only difference is that painters tape was a little more expensive.

but painters tape is easier to come by.

I agree with 2001, use a non-staining product.....I also choose to go around those areas your concerned about, by hand.....

Does MG #9, AIO, SG, or S100 stain trim? I 'm very knew and have not used any of these products yet.

Thanks,

B

I've found EX does leave residue but it's easily removed with some QD. PS doesn't stain at all so would assume that S100 doesn't either.

I've learnt the hard way that taping off trim is the best way to avoid stains - hence my other post!

Tape it! Ten to 15 minutes worth of taping saves you hours of cleanup! (Gonzo0903)

Even more important when using a ROTARY! 'Tis mucher cheaper to 'relocate', or burn, the tape!

I know this all to well. I spent about a hour cleaning trim and roof rack after using a protectant to protect trim. Tape the stainable parts, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
