Joe that is bad as stealing is stealing, here is a lame brain who does not take pics but steals my name(lol). The infamous "Andy" who paraphrased my website and literally cut n pasted Paul Dalton's website......... in the "Porfolio" section you can see his wannabe Brad Pitt tattoo on his forearm.

This is the same guy Joe who wanted someone to detail a Gulfstream @ Orange County Airport, but he could not do it(Me thinks this due to having a business in So Cal/Denver/Norcal/Katy Texas as he details and runs a limo biz, plus a "Concierge" service with no contact phone number or e-mail).

Here is the link.........

Home Page

OMG I can't believe the audacity of that guy... no wait, maybe I can.

This is GREAT - LOL This guy (NOT THE SCOTT WAX WE ALL KNOW AND LOVE) but another scott didn't just still a pic from my site he ................ wait for it................ wait for it............. STOLE ONE WITH ME IN IT!!

You have to click on "scotts mobile detailing" to see the pic. It's at the bottom. I am the one polishing the black GTC...LOL!! www.scottswax.com

Late with the topic, however the problem that I have dealt with in the 1.5 years of being in Austin is that I have a local auto detailing shop that likes to "borrow" specific wording from my site and use as their own. I don't understand how/why other shops feel like it's OK to do and not think about ethics.

A long ways back a kid on here copied my website word for word then had the balls to post it up here for people to critique. Someone sent me an e-mail about it and called him out and he deleted everything. I have also had several dealerships in my city copy my advertising and packages word for word too. Pretty lame but I doubt there is really anything you can do to stop it.

Still may not work. It's as simple as viewing the , "Page Source Code". The image(s) links are imbedded in the HTML page. Highlight the photo address and paste it into the "Address" bar at the top of the browser.

If there is any PHP scripting it may not be as easy or visible...

It's as easy to defeat that as hitting print screen and pasting the picture into mspaint and then editing it. If someone wants to get the pics they are going to get them.

You want to know what is really funny? He is running an ad for a $49 detail and there is no contact information in his ad. Guess whose site comes up first when you google "Scott's Mobile Detailing"? Here is a hint...not his! :lol

I am no longer responding to anyone contacting me from a SoCal area code. All these people who've bought the detail through livingsocial will now think he has ripped them off when they can't get him to call back. Honestly, I think they deserve it because my location is clearly stated on my website and I have an 817 area code.

I even got an e-mail from some idiot with DealGooder who was also too dumb to wonder about the area code and where is says "serving the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex..."

This was my response to her:

My business is in the Dallas area. I'm a good 1400 miles from Orange county. My location is right under my contact information, not sure how you and many others are somehow missing that, or how a business would have a domain name so similar to the one I have had since 2000 and a business name that similar that I've had since 1994.

I can't believe anyone would pick a domain name so close to another detailer, especially since I've had mine since 2000. I know he had to search it out too and found scottwax was already taken. You'd think he would realize he shouldn't go with one a single letter off. Oh well, not my fault he did that or put out an ad with no contact information.

Registering his website under that name is lame. Obviously trying to ride your coat tails by doing that

This is going to cost him. No idea what he spent on his ad but no more Mr. Nice Guy and telling people they have the wrong person. Right now I am just ignoring the calls but I am seriously tempted to start making appointments for those people and let the you-know-what hit the fan when no one shows up.

Ha ha, just got another call (didn't answer, they left a message), someone is mad that he reserved a couple dates to have his car detailed and no one has called him back. Nor is anyone going to call him back. :lol

When I was younger I had a friend of mine renting a room off me and was selling an old POS GMC Tracker and listed it under MY PHONE #. I told him to have them change the ad and list his cell phone but he didn't do it so I just started telling everyone that called ridiculous stuff like it had a power convertible top, $5000 stereo system or paint job etccc (car was listed for like $1600). Worst one was a middle eastern guy woke me up at 7 am on a long weekend so I just sent him on a wild goose chase out in the industrial park to look at the non-existant vehicle. It was a **** move but was pretty funny at the time

Scott,

Call them back tell them you are too busy but that Superior Shine will do a great job, give them joes number! Push the business towards him!

I emailed the guy and told him I had a Continental GTC like the one pictured and wanted to know if he had other photos of the work he did, so I could see his handy work. He quickly took the photo of joe down!

Cheers,

GREG

Not to dig up an old thread for nothing, but Google has added reverse image search, which might be useful in tracking this stuff down, if you want to:

Google Images

Also, there is a site that may or may not work better than Google:

TinEye Reverse Image Search

If you find images of yours on their sites, you might try emailing them and demanding they be taken down.

But a good watermark will prevent most thefts. Place the watermark over complex areas of the photos that can't be cropped out, but aren't so obtrusive to make the image ugly.

As well, you can place metadata/EXIF into the photo if you have the right software (Photoshop will do this, if you have a license for it, other apps probably will, too). Some cameras and smartphones add this information automatically (including GPS coordinates!) See this image, for example.

As an example:

I just saw where another local company stole my website's custom made graphics as well as plagiarized a lot of my text.

Check out the video he made about claying a car: hxxp://eyecandidetailing.com/videos.php]EyeCandi Executive Detailing

Why clay bar you ask? "...due to the economic fallout..."

*edited*

The guy has linked some gay porn on his site. Viewer beware. Basically, he didn't like an email I sent him. He's a real "character".
