Proper way to apply NXT Tech Wax Paste

I've just gotten into detailing and recently went out and purchased NXT Tech Wax Paste. I have three microfiber applicator pads and was wondering how I should go about applying this big chunk of white paste to have the best results? A brief overview of what I should do would help me greatly. Any other little tips and tricks would also be an excellent plus. And should I just go from straight wash to wax?

I have tried to apply NXT paste with a microfiber applicator, but it works better if you use the pad that came in the can. Easier to spread it even with that. Try to get it on as thin as possible, it can be a PITA to remove if it's applied too thick.

What condition is your paint in? Hard to tell what you should do, without any info about the paint. Do some research, these pages are very helpfull.

Oh, and :welcome to autopia.

follow the directions on the can, use the foam pad supplied by meguiars, and go thin when you apply it.

Daniel, as the others have mentioned the key is ultra thin. The foam applicator will enable you to do that easier. Put a light amount on the applicator, then starting at a corner of the panel spread the wax as far as it will go - until the applicator leaves nothing behind. Then repeat. You'll find that after several applications the pad gets loaded up and requires much less wax. Remember, less is more with all waxes.

Allow it to haze, swipe your finger on the hazed wax and see if wipes off easily. If it smears, even slightly, give it another few minutes and check again. Remove with a quality MF towel. You may need several, as they get clogged with wax pretty easily and have trouble clearing the surface. After removing all the residue, go over the car with a clean MF and give it a good (light) polish.

Also, ensure the surface has been clayed and cleaned with a prewax cleaner like Megs Step 1. This will give a better result to the appearance, durability, and wax removal. If the surface is swirled/scratched, you may need to polish instead of prewax clean. :up

Thanks for all the information guys. Its a 2005 Graphite Grey Accord and the paint seems to have swirls. So I'll give it a dry run on half of the hood and see how it turns out. Thanks again.

NXT does seem to hide a fair bit of swirling in my experiences. The wax also seems to give decent metallic pop. you should be pleasantly surprised :D

I went off and applied the wax on the hood and to my surprise I actually notice the difference. Although I don't know if its mostly psychological or reality I still am very unsure about my method. I put a thin coating around the Meguiars applicator pad and put it down on the hood and started working it in counter-clockwise motion on an area with dimensions about 1.5' x 1.5'. I just kept swirling until there was no more white residue but just swirls of wax. I let it dry for a good 5 minutes (don't know how long I'm supposed to let it dry) and then wiped it all off with a clean microfiber towel. I was also wondering about what I should or could layer ontop of the wax to get the best LOOK and protection. Also, are there any large chain stores that sell a lot of OTC detailing products? My local Autozone doesn't have much so yeah. Thanks again guys.

to know when its ready to be removed you can swipe it with your finger and if it smudges its not ready yet, if it wipes clean its ready to be removed

When applying do you guys rubs the wax on and overlaping it or do you apply the wax in one sweep without going over it?

I overlap in a circular motion then finish in back and forth motions the way the air flows over the car.

your supposed to overlap your passes to ensure complete coverage if that's what your asking?

hi neo

I meant do you rub the wax on over itself repeatedly?, or just 1 sweep across then slightly overlapping and 1 sweep back? :getdown

I'm going to go out and purchase the Meguiars polish and was wondering what the best method is to remove the current layer of wax on my car? Also does anyone know any good brands of micro fiber towels that I could purchase OTC? And for my washes ive been using Black Magic and was wondering if it is a good soap?
