Proper technique with spray-on tire dressings?

I'm talking about the sprays and not a foam.



It seems that every spray I've used on any tire will simply have the spray run down all over the wheel and pool in every nook and cranny in the wheel. When I try to towel-off the excess off of the wheel it leaves the wheel hazy. Is the proper technique to spray directly onto a towel (?...sponge?) and then apply?



Because of this, I've tried to stick with using gels but gels sling and are a real PITA to apply.



I'm getting ready to purchase some Duragloss 253 (tire dressing/spray) and want to be sure I'm doing it right.

That's what works best for me.

I use Turtle wax black n' wet and spray it on a rag and then wipe it on to the tire. Leaves tire with a nice shine and doesn't sling off tire at all. Plus you don't get over spray on anything.

Lately I've been using 3D's Ultra Tire Protectant after each wash on my drivers. Right after you do your final rinse and while the car and ground is still wet spray liberal amounts of straight dressing (the stuff is really cheap) on the tires and wheel wells then proceed to dry the car as it begins to plate out. At the end you'll end up having no overspray mess on your paint or the ground and your tires looks great. Like off the excess to change the look too.

Spray lightly and work in 1/4 tire at time ... go around until you get the sheen you're looking for

You can also fill up a spray paint cap with dressing and use a paint brush to apply

I've been using a 1.5" paintbrush for years. If you hold the paintbrush on an angle to the tire, and then spray the product into the paintbrush as you are swiping, you get great, even coverage, and no overspray. You use MUCH less product as well since half of it isn't spraying into the air or boucing off of the tire.

I use Stoner More Shine for Tires. Sprays really even and is pretty easy to avoid the wheels, except when the wind is blowing. Even if it does get on the wheels, it is pretty hard to see since it is clear.

i spray onto a foam tire applicator (usually 2-3 sprays per wheel) and spread it around working it in well to prevent sling...

Hyper dressing 1:1 using USP Plastics spray bottle and spread with old grout sponge that has been cut into sections.

I hated the hassle of dressing my tires sooo much that I actually slacked off on it! Then I got one of these: Tire Dress Express and it made the job so easy I don't mind doing it whenever it needs doing. I see Griot's has 'em now too.



Had somebody recommended this to me, I probably woulda written it off as waste of money, but man-oh-man do I like the thing.
