Sooo, this is my 2nd project car, and unlike the last http://autopia.org/forum/click-brag/84855-project-car-1990-vw-gti.html?highlight=1990+gti

this one has some rust... fun.

At any rate here's when I got it:

LSP was applied after the pics, EX-P

PoorBoy's TrimRestore on trim (I love this stuff btw)

Megs Hot wheels on tires

Invisible Glass on windows

It was dark and late, i'll get some better shots with the sun outside tomorrow :)

Side thought, this is only my 2nd time using a PC so cut me some slack

and

this car does show it's age in a few spots, clear coat failure on front grill and spoiler

I just didn't think it was bad enough to leave the paint untouched, it is definitely an improvement.

Thanks for looking!

car is doing alright. collecting dust right now but its been a year since its last detail.

I actually had an '85 XR4TI (the one with the obnoxious double spoiler)......it was actually one of the more fun cars I ever owned.

Nice project car, my cousin had one of those if tinkered with properly it can be a little beast and also a very rare find, from the looks of it its pretty clean for such a year. Nice choice good job on the detail. :2thumbs:

Funny I use to work on and sell those all the time like 10 years ago. They have the same drivetrain as the 1984 Mustang SVO. 2.3 turbo and the t-bird/couger turbo coupe. I had a Merkur Scorpio sedan with the 2.9 ford broncoII/ranger engine in it.

The XR4TI's were fun and quick cars though.

I just had to look at this thread for the humor value. Those cars were so hideous. Every time I see one it's on its last leg, and I think of Jim Rome and how he always dogs so hard on the one he used to own.

Anyway, nice work though.

Wow 80's flashback.

If I told you guys this, you probably think Im lying to you. I used that car to passed my road test :spit:

WOW Nice job. Ive always wanted a Cosworth Sierra.... but the MerKur is nice too!

I have an 88 ford thunderbird turbo coupe, with 41K origional miles on it. It needs a lot of detail work comming up... and I think that monday might be the day!! If you have questions about modding the motor, or just plain troubleshooting it, Head on over to

TurboFord.net Home

The forums are a little snippy at times, but there is a HOARD of information about the ford 2.3l Turbo on there.

NICE detail work!
