Project Car: 1990 VW GTI

Clean it WAY up, widen the steelies and drop it an inch and you're good to go!

Of course I would stick a cage in it and go racing.... :D

i am thinking of taking all of the trim off and washing each piece individually andwhile they are off wash clay polish so i can reach everything. anyone else ever done anything like this and have any tips? or an i just crazy? thanks!

Coming along nicely, I'd add some different wheels, and some new seats if your budget allows.

Sonus clay is really good, but it sounds like you need some really intense polishing...

Sorry no pics today.. :( no camera available

but I removed the license plates, front grill, side trim, all lights, rear spoiler and washed them individually and then washed the car like that really helped loosen up the stuck dirt in places.

tomorrow I will begin polishing with SSR2.5 then 1, all the trim that has been removed will be pre treated with PB trim restore. :D

Is it safe to use SSR on glass?

Yes they work actually well on glass as per Poorboy's recommendation.

Just for some notes on what products were used:

SSR2.5 .. multiple passes on some areas (roof had some real bad areas)

SSR1 on areas that needed it

EX-P

Natty's Blue

Trim restore really brought all of the trim back to life

Megs hot wheels

F21 and vacuumed the interior

Here's a few pics I took while waiting for the buyer (The president of the local VW club :getdown )

Great job so far! Good luck on the restoration! I'm partial to white VW's since I own one myself.
