Product with the wax glow and sealant longevity?

Well my truck is a blue granite metallic and I want it to look good, but I lean more towards wanting good protection. After all, it's a truck, not a garage queen show car.
 
I just used Ameriseal from Americana Car Care and it gives a really nice look. I can't comment on durability but others have said it falls within the 5-6 month range.

That's funny timing. I just did 2 coats of Collinite 476s on one vehicle and 2 coats of 885 on another testing durability. 476s states on the can "at least a year of protection". It has only been about one month so no real data. I do like using the paste wax tho.

I am going to find out about the durability of Collinite in Arizona. Not a lot of rain here but temps over 110 but less than 125 ambient. Of course sheet metal temps I have measured are up to 165. Finish Kare is on the list to try. From what I read the 1000 is a true sealant look and not a Carnuba look, true ?.

My wife and I used to travel to AZ in June for training that had us in long sleeves/pants, and sometimes in helmets in that heat, so I do know what you're dealing with. It'll be interesting to see how the Collinite holds up.

Yes, and it's one *very* sealanty look at that. No depth/etc. so the look won't please everybody on every color by a long shot!

I've never used or seen a sealant that looks like a good wax (thinking Vics Red or RaceGlaze 55). BFWD AFPP, 4* UPP, WDGPS 3.0, Prima Hydro products, AF Tough Coat and maybe Duragloss 105 are among the less glassy looking sealants but IMO they do not look all that close to wax. I find that FK1000 and the Collinite 845 also do not deliver the waxed look. Supposedly Kamikaze ISM and ArtDeSicko come closer than any of the previous products but I haven't used them.

I'm not persuaded by the arguments for sealant + wax layering. IME, at best, you get very slightly greater longevity plus you get the inherent downsides of wax (dust & pollen adhere more than on most sealants & coatings) and I think that waxes tend to look better on their own or with glazes beneath. In the interest of full disclosure the only wax over sealant layering I have done is the BF system and Collinites over Duragloss 105. Although they aren't the most wet, dark and deep looking waxes there are several hybrid waxes on the market that will last up to six months (potentially longer under relatively ideal conditions). The better sealants for longevity have about the same effective lifespan but IME layering the two will not give you double the longevity, more like another two to six weeks, if that. For people that really want the true wax look I think they should just opt for a good wax and be prepared to reapply in a couple months.
From what I've seen so far the best hope for a long lasting "waxed" look without the downsides is likely to be found among the new products that are at least nominally coatings (but not among the most familiar existing coatings in the U.S. market).
 
As long as you done the prep work before anything, then a good sealant with a couple of layers of a good wax with work fine, remember everyone sees colors and shine different then others. Keep on it every week after a wash and using a QD/wax spray and you will see the shine and wet look your looking for.
 
I think we need to determine the true objective. It's agreed that polymer sealants and coatings offer the best durability while wax offers the best shine or depth of shine. Wax over sealant is better than just sealant, but not as good as carnuba alone.
So what do we want...long term protection, sacrificing some shine, or show car shine, sacrificing durability?
Now spring, summer and fall, I'd go with shine, then for winter here, I'd sure want durable protection!
For me, I'm gonna play with a couple of coats of Duragloss 111 over 105 (with an Aquawax topper after washes) and see where it takes me.

Don't leave out DG 932. If you have not used it you need to give it a try. I do a lot of rinseless washes with it and can really cut down on time plus it gets Aqua Waxed as you go. Mixed as a QD you will definately get the slickest finish you can possibly get.

I may get there, but I'm an ONR fan for years now. Recently I'm mixing 2 oz of Aquawax with 2 oz of ONR in a quart spray bottle for Rinseless washes, detail and clay lube.
