Product suggestions for White Avalanche with cladding

Fatboy2

Peace Keeper
It has been a long time since I have owned a white vehicle and wondered if anyone could suggest some products for the white vehicle. I have Klasse AIO, UPP and S100 carnuba.

I think I want to use a detailing clay and go from there. Any and all suggestions will be appreciated.
Thank You:thanks

Well it seems like you are almost good to go with the products you have now. You will absolutely need to clay because if you don't remove some of the metal contaniments (rail dust) they could rust and be very apparent on white paint. So a good clay job should be in the works. Is this a new truck? Or new to you? If the paint is in good condition you could just use a light polish to clear up any clay marring. Then you can go with AIO, UPP and then S100.

Thanks for the reply Budman! Sorry about that... It is new to my wife. It is 2004. The paint appears to be in pretty good condition, but after running my hand across the paint I can feel the contaminants.

Any ideas on what to use on the cladding (all the molding) to keep it in good condition?
Thanks again.:bigups

Any type of trim shine or plastic protectant would be fine. I believe that the 04's had a lot of plastic on them so buying a protectant in bulk may be a good idea :). So any trim shine / protectant would work whether it's Stoner's Trim Shine from Autozone, Poorboy's Trim Restore, 303 Aerospace Protectant, etc.

On the body cladding PBs Trim Restore will work great or for an over the counter product that has work great for me is Turtle Wax Ice liquid wax. The stuff is junk on paint but it works great on plastic trim.

I keep coming back to Four Star UPP along with Duragloss Aquawax on my white truck. Very slick and reflective.

Though I have not tried this product combo, I agree that 4* UPP is an excellent starting point for white. In fact it is my experience that the product lineup you have in hand will serve you very well. KAIO/UPP or KAIO/S100 will both provide a very nice look on white.

I’ve found AW to be excellent in its ease of use and appearance, so I have no doubt that this would be a nice topper over your UPP, and it’s favorable price point makes it a relatively painless product to add to your kit.

Add my vote along with the others for an initial claying session before you begin applying your products. Several years ago I took on a white vehicle that had been used to nothing other than the occasional tunnel wash. It was an outside vehicle that lounged daily under the eave of some kind of trees, surprisingly there was very little sap residue. Anyway, the customer needed to stay as he had no other transportation, so he sat out back while I commenced to washing a good amount of dirt from the vehicle. He was very impressed at how a good wash transformed the grey (or gray) vehicle white again. Then I pulled out the clay. Even though the car appeared to be very clean and white, the claying removed yet one more veil of film from the car leaving behind a sparkling (well not sparkling until after I finished polishing/sealing) white finish..

I have two white cars and find AW a very good product as everyone else had mentioned. It's very easy to apply, the shine is outstanding, and very economical.

UPP is a favorite of mine, but I've since switched to DG 105. I find it just as easy to apply as UPP and cheaper. You may want to give it a chance when you're out of UPP.

I agree completely with using the UPP.
I find I get better reflectivity and shine by not using AIO directly under the UPP.
My best results are achieved as follows:
Wash
Clay
AIO or other cleaner
Poorboys SSR 1
Two coats of UPP applied 24 hours apart
Adam's Detail Spray 24 hours later and to maintain

Adams Detail spray adds a depth to the shine without taking away from the reflectivity or brightness of the finish

Just my experience

I seem to recall a "trade bulletin" about newer GM cladding not reacting well with petroleum based dressings. Something about they turn whitish permanently, I think. The only fix is a dye job.
Sorry I can't remember more about it. Maybe your local GM dealership could show you the sheet?

GM did a recall on the cladding...as it was fading or discoloring..they were using a product called Gatorback to fix the problem...the cladding did not take well to oily type products...it ran and left permanent streaks...

look on the Avalanche boards to see what the cause was and fix..and what to use...
