Product Suggestions?...AND We're off...

Ok,

I have read a bit on some products for different uses but I am more than a bit confused by my choices here. For instance, I know Menerza seems to be a good product but there are 2 different "power gloss" products on the Detailers Domain site with no explanation of the difference. So before I give myself an aneurysm by trying to figure this out, I will ask the pro's. So here is what I am looking for...

Keep in mind that these will all be used on a PC, I will not use a rotary...

1. Product and pad combo for Heavy scratch/oxidation removal.

2. Product and pad combo for Medium scratch/swirl removal.

3. Product and pad combo for Light scratch/haze removal.

4. Product and pad combo for Glaze/Sealer for light and dark colored cars. (I

have one black and one silver car." I currently have an unopened Megs

NXT 2.0 for this that I have not used yet. Opinions would be welcome on

this too.

5. Product and pad combo for last coat of wax or whatever will make the car

nice and shiny and protect it for a good while.

6. Product for general cleaning like Simple green or whatever you suggest. I

have heard people talk about using something and cutting it for other jobs

like carpet and upholstery instead of buying 10 different cleaners for this

and that. What product or products and how to cut it for the different jobs

would be appreciated.

7. Product for Cleaning and shining interior plastic/dashboard/under hood

detailing. I have read about Gummipfledge and 303 aerospace. Let me

know whatcha think. For the Dash, I am mostly concerned with a product

THAT DOES NOT ATTRACT DUST, nothing ticks me off more than 3 days

after cleaning it having crap stuck to the dash.

8. Microfiber Towels. There are green ones, red ones, white ones, blue ones.

What do the colors mean and what are they used for? What and who makes

the better ones without spending $25 on one freakin towel. I bought ones

from Walmart that are blue on one side and white on the other, these seem

to do a good job so far but are small for taking off wax and stuff like that.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Sorry for the long post but I have all these questions floating around and need answers. Thank you all for your help with these.

1. Megs 105 and LC orange

2. Megs 205 and LC white

3. PB SSR1 and LC Grey or 205 and grey

4. NXT 2 by hand. I used to use this a lot and was very happy. If you want a true glaze, try Megs #7. Other sealants I like are PB EX-P and UPGP

5. If protection is the most important thing, then Collinite 845 is right up your alley.

6. Meguiars APC+

7. I use Megs QID for interior wipedowns.

8. Auto Detailing Solutions -- Meguiar's Car Wax, Auto Polish & Detailing Supplies Store very cheap and very good towels.

Good luck

1. Product and pad combo for Heavy scratch/oxidation removal.

M105/4" orange or PFW pad.

2. Product and pad combo for Medium scratch/swirl removal.

M105/4" polishing pad followed by M205/polishing pad perhaps also followed by M205/finishing pad.

3. Product and pad combo for Light scratch/haze removal.

M205 with whatever pad you need to get the job done.

Use IPA to remove the M205's polishing oils lest they cause pseudo-holograms.

Beats me as I don't really do this. I suppose something like DWG or RMG with a zero-cut finishing pad. Or any of the Meguiar's "pure polishes" (#3/#5/#7/#81/Deep Crystal step #2 Polish).

5. Product and pad combo for last coat of wax or whatever will make the car

nice and shiny and protect it for a good while.

Collinite 476S or 845. Or FK1000P. I'd do any/all of these by hand, though 845 via finishing pad works fine too. This won't really make the car all that shiny as *that* comes from the preceding prep work.

Or just use the NXT you already have.

I'm not one of the people who use one product for all those tasks.

I use EF Hi-Intensity for most APC jobs but there are cheaper alternatives.

I use the appropriate carpet stuff for carpets (which product depends on the job)and Griot's Interior Cleaner for most interior surfaces.

7. Product for Cleaning and shining interior plastic/dashboard/under hood

detailing. I have read about Gummipfledge and 303 aerospace. Let me

Interiors: Meg's Interior QD. Underhood: 303. For cleaning it'd depend on the surface being cleaned: rubber cleaner, APC, interior cleaner, etc.

I only use GummiPfledge for door/etc. seals.

The colors don't mean anything consistent/significant AFAIK. I buy most of mine from PakShack and I choose colors in a way that's meaningful to *me*.

Note that some MFs only come in certain colors (the Cobra Shamrock at AutoGeek).

No idea where to get cost-effective ones.
