Product Recomnmendation for Quick Detailing

~One man’s opinion~

I’m sure the use of the ‘search’ function would also provide you with answers to your question.

Most Carnauba wax spray (QD) consist of the wax and an additive to maintain it’s liquidity and are chosen because of a personal preference or are found to give a glossy look to whatever synthetic sealant they use or a combination of these.

Having said all that, my personal choice for Carnauba wax is Zymol, mostly because they use natural products to provide liquidity, and *i* like the look it gives my vehicles.

Once again this is only one man's opinion. I believe that some of the Carnauba based detailers are kind of a "Heavy Duty" detail. I haven't convinced myself that this is the type of detail that should be used daily/frequently (Quick Detailing). I have found that when putting on lots of layers of Carnauba without in between cleaning or normal wear you tend to get for lack of a better description a yellowing effect. The finish seems to loose its clarity. I think that Carnauba Detailers have their place but for daily or frequent detailing I think a product like FI or FD are better choices. Oh and by the way I REALLY like Final Detail.

I agree with Gearhead_1, using a QD on a daily basis (even though wax evaporates in time and will start to melt at 178oF) it could start to ‘yellow’ if you build layers (plus most Carnauba wax is naturally yellow in colour, so once the liquefiers are gone your left with a yellow wax)

I usually use a QD after the weekly car washing or to remove hand marks or bird-bombs

I love Pinnacle Crystal Mist. I was able to get an intense shine when I used it after washing the car. I had Souveran on my car at the time. It made the car look like I just spent several hours detailing it. It also imparted an increased depth to the paint as if I added on another layer of Souveran.

Pinnacle Crystal Mist, or Griot's Speed Shine. The Griot's is a nice shine, very waxy, very similar to the Pinnacle but not as nice a smell.

I like QS & Final Detail. Either one of these leaves the paint looking just waxed. The QS does feel slicker.

This past weekend I had the opportunity to use 1Z Spruh Wax and I really like it. It left the paint bright and wet. I also has a great smell unlike some of the other 1Z polishes.

Quik Shine (although no carnauba..) the all round winner for shine/slickness etc...Closely followed by Poorboys Spray + Wipe (also no carnauba), if I'm giving the car a 'quick' clean, just not quite as slick as Quik Shine.

Cheers :)

Clearkote QS, also like Blackfires Deep gloss spray, although its kind of pricey.....Best all around goes to QS.....

I bet that cleared it up for him .. I'll throw one more in .. I don't QD at all unless freshly washed or spot clean at car shows. FD only .. QD/Dust/Black car = swirls ..

Pinnacle crystal mist is the only qd i've used with carnuba. It is a very good QD but I don't think it is any better than Quickshine escpecially with the price difference.JMO

My favorite is Quickshine because it can be used in the sun and is equally effective on sealants or carnauba wax. I also like mixing it with QEW and I keep a 50/50 solution of Quickshine and Spray & Wipe in the car for birdbombs and touchups. Basically Quickshine works for me in ANY application and this versatility along with the quality shine and slickness is priceless.

Just curious... do you use a California Duster at all? The duster followed by a quick detail would mitigate the black car swirl dilemma would it not?

I have a CCD and have used it a few times to dust the car after driving 100 miles to car shows. The amount of course dust it picked up off the rear area of the car basically made the CCD into a scratch mop. And with a black car on hot days the parrafin bleed off was a little much.
