Hi, i'm new here and I just wanted to get some advice on my detailing process. This is for a 3 year old, dark red nissan. I've been doing this all by hand with some Sonüs pro applicators, and i want to continue doing it by hand for awhile; I don't really feel like spending the money on a porter cable yet (in college = poor)

So far, this is what I have been using:

Sonüs SFX Ultra-Fine Detailing Clay

Sonüs SFX-3 Final Finish Polish

Mother's Reflections Wax/Sealant

So far, i've been quite pleased with the results, but I have a fair amount of swirls I want to remove, so i've been looking at more abrasive polishes. I was thinking about trying the Poorboy's SSR2.5, and then SSR1

So this would be my process:

Sonüs SFX Ultra-Fine Detailing Clay

Poorboy's SSR2.5

Poorboy's SSR1

Sonüs SFX-3 Final Finish Polish

Mother's Reflections Wax/Sealant

I usually QD it every other day (lot's of pollen here) with Mother's CA Gold Showtime Instant Detailer and Reflection's Spray Wax; I've also considered picking up some Reflections Top Coat to put on after washes. I wash every week with Sonüs Gloss Shampoo and a sea sponge. So far, I think i've done a good job at eliminating any new swirls, now I just need to get rid of the ones already there.

How does my process look? Am I doing things right? Any recommendations?

Thanks.

I've never polished by hand, so I don't know what results you'll get but I have used both SFX 3 and SSR 1. They are both very light polishes which remove only very light swirling for me with a PC. So, my guess is you'll definitely see more results with the SSR 2.5 over the SFX 3 you've been using. Again, what your results will be by hand, I have no idea.

With that said, I'd skip the SFX 3 in your process above. It's really redundant after SSR1.
