I've got a few questions on the best process and products to use for the two cars I work on. Primary is my black '99 M-B E430, which is in good cond with minor swirls. Second is my wife's desert silver '04 G35, new and in xlnt cond.

I'm doing everything by hand. Have had decent results with Zymol products (non-turtle wax), but know I can do better (see pic). I want both to "pop", but with my M-B I want a very deep, warm, naturally bright and reflective finish. The silver G35's finish doesn't have as much depth so the wet, acrylic look works well.

I'm very interested in Poorboy's products. Can SSR1 be applied by hand without too much trouble (to the car or me)? Can I go to SSR2 by hand if necessary? Do I follow with ProPolish, and can it be layered? Will EX give me the deep finish I want, and will EX-P give the G35 that big wet "POP"? How many layers can I go with either EX or EX-P?

This site has opened my eyes to other products as well. If there are products or processes that could be more effective, specifically with the goals for my black M-B, please let me know.

You can use both of these by hand. They will definitely be more work than by machine, but its still doable. They both have "diminishing abrasives" If your not familiar, other members have described it better than I can... so the search function will be your friend You will have to work the product in.



Do I follow with ProPolish, and can it be layered? Pro-polish doesn’t leave anything behind. So it can’t be layered. It is a Chemical Cleaner. I would suggest Polish w/ Carnauba instead for your black vehicle. Generally products with cleaning abilities can’t be layered, and ones without them can me. Still the whole thing of layering is subjective.



Will EX give me the deep finish I want, and will EX-P give the G35 that big wet "POP"? How many layers can I go with either EX or EX-P?
I would suggest Ex for the black car, and Ex-P for the silver car. EX will make the car more wet and Ex-P will generally make it more reflective and shiny.


So, with sticking to poorboys products, some good combos would be from easy to hardest to ultra extreme would be....


1) Polish w/ Carnauba, Ex
2) SSR2 or 1, Ex
3) SSR2 or 1, Polish w/ Carnauba, Ex x2
4) SSR2, SSR1, Polish w/ Carnauba, Ex x2, Nattys x2
