Problems with 3M Painters tape

Ive read a bunch of guides and watched a few videos of professional shops and I see all of them using blue painters tape as well as green automotive masking tape to cover gaps while waxing. So, i went out and bought the most gentle 3M painters tape I can find (made for 24hr old paint) and used it the last time I waxed. Now, almost 2 weeks later Im seeing dirt sticking to glue residue left on the glass and a couple places around the car, the glass is the most affected. Could I possibly have done something wrong?

Did it get hot from the sun or such?

The adhesive released a bit onto the surface.

Try wiping the affected areas with IPA (rubbing alcohol) to remove it.

Not a big deal.

It was a really cool day outside, around 60-65. It came off the glass with glass cleaner, but I was more concerned about the paint. Thanks for the tip.

Glass cleaner has IPA as it's active solvent.

It will not damage your paint and will be more effective than glass cleaner to remove the adhesive residue from the paint surfaces.

I;ve never experienced this type of problem? The only thing I get is compound build up along the edge. Never remaining adhesive. Like Ron said. Use a little alcohol and carefully reapply some wax.

I've done this...You catch an edge of the tape with your pad, the tape lifts, and then the pad removes some of the adhesive and relocates it to the paint. If the tape doesn's stay flat or adhered to the trim or whatever your taping off you can lift it....

I like the green Automotive tape the best btw...:D
