Problems applying PoorBoys EX-P

Ok this stuff is thick! How can I apply thinner more even coats? I am using a microfiber applicator should I go to a foam one??



Also, anyone topped EX-P with Klasse SG??
 
I also applied by PC and found that I used too much.



I would think foam would help to apply a bit thinner, but not as much as a PC.



I have EX-P topping SG on my trunk as a test...not bad, but a bit more hazy than the rest of the car...probably my application of SG as it needs to be even thinner than EX-P.



Others may chime in with a different opinion but I think you'd do better topping SG with EX-P than SG on EX-P...but try it and let us know how you like it...what color is your car, btw?
 
I usually use a yellow foam applicator. I hear that the PB's PVA applicator makes putting thin coats of any sealant a very easy process.
 
I found that EX-P is ver very thick compared to Vanilla Moose or any other product for that matter. I actually use a foam applicator. It helps spread it out thinner than a microfiber would allow.



Actually, I'm using my NXT pad for EX-P. Don't even know where my NXT bottle went?:rolleyes:
 
I use a moistened foam applicator to apply Ex-P and have never had any problems. I think the key is to make sure that you're not using a dry pad to apply the product.

In all honesty I think that was my problem. I am used to the moreliquid state of Klasse SG/Zaino and the just slightly thicker FinalPolish.



I also posted under the product discussion forum my thoughts on the product.
 
I had success with Handi-grip applicator ( from autopia ). I dabbed few times only and excess moves up in sponge. Squeeze sponge and product squeeze out from foam pad. With few dabs I was able to do whole car.

I've applied EX-P by PC and by hand

When I applied it by hand I used a Yellow foam applicator and first soaked it with water and then squeezed out the excess.

that let me put on a nice thin coat...That made life easy when it came time to remove the product.

Know this thread is a bit old, but I now have 2xSG over my EX-P and it looks great. I know it is not the best way to do it, but time does not permit me to do a strip, AIO, and then SG. In the spring I plan on doing a good polishing, AIO, and then SG, so I will comment on the difference. Like I said, I am sure EX-P as a topper would be better, but the SG on top looks REAL good to me. Not a surprise though, as SG seems to perform under almost any circumstance!
