Problem with your order? Try contacting the vendor BEFORE posting

It seems like every week there is a thread about a problem with the order that is started before the vendor has a chance to correct the problem. Why can't we try to call or email the company to give them a chance to resolve it before posting that there was a problem?

This gets under my skin because someone that browses the headlines without reading the threads may assume that you had a problem with the vendor that didn't get resolved. In my experience all of the sponsors of this forum (and detailing vendors as a whole) provide outstanding customer service. Everyone will have a mistake with an order from time to time...the important thing is how they respond when presented with a problem.

I'd much rather see a thread that says something was wrong with my order, I contacted company X and they set things right...wow, what great service.

Thank you mtodde. Some of the these "problem order" threads are getting downright ridiculous. If you have a problem, deal with it. If the vendor is at fault and resolves the issue, please let us know about it... that's what customer service is all about, and we like those stories.

If the vendor is at fault and unwilling to resolve the issue, then you have every right to post a "problem order" thread... but only after giving the vendor a chance. These people are professionals and will often bend over backwards to help a customer.

The customer service I've received from vendors/sponsors on DC is top-notch, some of the best service I've received from anyone, anywhere. We are a lucky group of detailing maniacs. :bigups

:lol It seems that these types of posts haven't registered with me. Especially with the frequency that seems to have touched your nerve. BUT it does seem that common sense would dictate that one would certainly contact the vendor in an attempt to resolve any such issues before complaining publicly. Then, if you have "jumped the gun", it is surely the right thing to do to issue a statement that the problem was resolved.

As e-klasse posted, we do have access to a good group of vendors who are for the most part committed to customer service. I have placed numerous orders from more than a few of our vendors. My experiences with customer care from these vendors are mostly top notch. The few minor problems have been with slow (without explanation) delivery. Because the incidences were isolated and not trending and the product(s) were eventually delivered, they were not worth noting in any forum.

There will always be those consumers who subscribe to the "squeeky wheel" approach to getting what they want, and maybe hoping for a little more.

I will admit that I jumped the gun a bit on my post earlier this week. It's been a hard week and I'm not thinking straight, a good friend of mine passed away recently and I wasn't thinking. I wouldn't want to reflect badly on the sponsors of this site, they are great people and I've never had a problem that wasn't quickly resolved. I'm very happy with the quality of products and service that I get. Sorry if I went through the wrong channels to get a small issue resolved, it won't happen again.

Mark,
Sorry to hear of your loss :kneel I think we can all understand how that could cloud your judgement.
Glad (but not surprised) to see that AutoGeek is taking care of you. :bigups

I wasn't trying to single you out; it seems like we get one of these threads once a week and I think we should give the vendor a chance first.

I am sorry to hear about your friend and hope that you have a better week next week.
