I just tried it on a small portion of my wood trim. Didn't seem to do anything at all, maybe made it a touch shinier though. Was I doing something wrong (just applied it with a damp MF applicator and worked it in for a few seconds then let it dry for 5 minutes and buffed it off) or should I not use this product on wood trim?

I have never used prime, but I am a fan of AIO and from what
I understand they are in the the same type of product.
AIO/Prime are great chemical cleaners!
but not much in the way of swirl removal
do you have a finishing polish to try?
or try the prime with a terry cloth or polishing pad to give it some more cut

BMW335i- The last time I removed any significant marring from interior wood I used 3M PI-III MG 05937 for most of the work. That's a pretty mild product for paint but it's a whole lot more abrasive than products like AIO.
If what you've tried hasn't abraded away the marring, you gotta use something more aggressive; it's really the same principle as when working with (regular) paint. I do understand the inclination to be gentle though...and to be honest, on a lot of cars I'd rather have the wood be a little marred than thin out its finish. Maybe a filler-heavy SMR/glaze approach with some decent wax topper would work for you.
