pricing suggestions for a winter wash/wax special?

So right now I'm unemployed and have some time on my hands.

I am thinking about doing a little more local car-board advertising, for a wash/wax special.

Basically it would simply consist of a hand/foamgun wash and a single stage durable synthetic sealant (probably 1z glanz).

What do you guys think would be a good price for this? I was thinking around $50 but I've not done a simple wash and wax in so long I've no idea how long it will take me. Don't want to sell myself short, I'm shooting for at least a $20/hour take, but materials cost money as well.

i do it for 60....but I use megs 66 for this....easier with a sealant wax, as I have to work in 66 like a polish for a few minutes each section, but it also removes dirt and stuff from the paint...i like this stuff, removes oxidation and cuts light swirls....cars take about 2 hours at most (well, thats with talking to the owner the whole time the PC is not on), trucks about 2 as well, jeeps about 1.5, suvs about 2.5...but my prices reflect the time...

seems like there is more money in this line of work than polishing trying to get every little swirl out...I have OCD and hate it when I cant get something out of the paint, I end up spending WAY more time on it and making my hourly turn to nothing...

ok back on track....

I charge $60-90 for one steps. I have been using Optimum Poli-Seal now because it has some cut. Really good on paint that doesn't need anything other than light correction.

My one steps include wash, vac, clean/dress tires and fenderwells, wipe down dash and console, clean glass in and out and wax. Takes from 1.5 to 2.5 hours.

Another option, though I don't know how feasible it is in the frozen tundra where you live, but maybe a 10% discount on bad weather days. 10% off your regular price is still way more than sitting at home making $0.

yeah because basically its only going to take you 10 minutes to vacuum it out and wipe down the dash and plastics (dusting)...but why not do it and carge 60, or still charge 50 and add it in as a "freebie"

Is $20 per hour a guess or do you actually have a handle on figuring out what an accurate hourly rate would be for your detailing business? What about some of the other business operating expenses, such as; advertising costs, vehicle operating and maintenance costs, supplies other than detailing products, insurance, taxes, etc?
