Pricing Question

Hello again everyone, I'm looking into opening a mobile detailing business, and I know for a fact I've been undercharging the few clients I have. I've been charging 100 dollars for a single stage polish/wax, wheels tires fender wells cleaned and dressed, and vacuum and interior wipe down.

I'm curious to know what the going rate is for mobile detailing, and what packages you offer to your clients. I'm looking to have 4 or 5 packages, but I don't want to make a potential clients head spin at the same time. Any incite would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Sean

I generally do around 200 for a single step.

I only have 3 packages, Wash & Wax, One-Step, and Full Correction. I just use common sense to price it, if it goes up I'll call the client and let them know how much extra and why.

It will depend on your geographical area. Your market determines the range of how much you can charge. You have to be very careful, too cheap and you risk not looking professional enough, plus you won't be compensated for your time fairly. Too expensive, and people will find someone cheaper. Generally there's a range (say, simply for example, between $150 and $180) you can play with, and you find your sweet spot in there.

IMO do research on your city, regardless of the level of real experience and professionalism of the shop. Look at your prices and products and decide how much your work is worth and the type of products you use. Check your methods and what kind of clients are you targeting and what is your ultimate goal.

Hope this helps as a previous poster said is true, prices vary from city to city. The guys in Vegas, California or Florida are going to charge more or less than you due to the economy in the state versus yours.

Cheers!!!!

Thanks for the info guys, it did help me. I wasn't looking for a set price, but a general idea of what the average rate is. As I said I've been charging 100 dollars for a single stage polish and wax, but I'm going to bump it up. At the moment I'm just trying to gather as much info as possible before I start really advertising.

One more question, that 150-180 for a single stage correction, does that include interior cleaning as well?

Thanks a lot,

Sean

Are you new to detailing? Do you live in a high income area? Are your clients willing to pay top dollar for your services? These are what you have to ask yourself. Are you in an area with a bunch of hack artist or are there some real quality detailers in your area? Always know your compitetion. I used to call every detailer within a 20 mile radius on a weekly basis. Sometime just to shoot the sh*t other times to see what the heck they were up too and how they were doing business. ALWAYS know what your compitietion is up too. It's the key factor to knowing what your market is and what they are used to. If everyone is used to paying $100 for a full detail and you come blaring in at $200 most people are going to wonder why your charging double? Same with trying to value price your services too low. People start wondering what your NOT doing to get the price down that low. There are a lot of factors when considering your price range.
