Previous Owner Mistreated Mercedes!!! I'm shocked! How to clean?

Went to Walmart, the only thing I found was rubbing compound, which when I opened up, seemed like clay, but was not in a bar or anything. Directions said to take small amounts, lubricate, rub car, and then wipe off. I am not sure if it was the same thing, but didn't want to take chances. Will goto autozone tomorrow.

eeek rubbing compound is not the same as clay, goodjob putting that down! autozone should have some type of clay kit, if you cant find it theres always the internet.

Okay Okay, I've gasped far too many time in this thread LOL.

First thing you need to do is read around. Click the learn tab, download the Autopia E-book, search around. Even just read whats being discussed on the board right now. This is a fantastic place with some GREAT detailers and detailing enthusiasts. I thought I was pretty well versed before I showed up here, but I knew NOTHING compared to what I know now. You really need to read all the information here if you want to do this right.

The car is pretty rough if you ask me. I think it's probably going to be very difficult to remove all of those contaminants by hand. At least DACP with a yellow pad there I think. You've been told to purchase a PC, I think you should. HOWEVER, again you gotta read around the forum at all the information. The PC isn't a magic wand, it wont do miracles until you know how to use it properly. You have to know what kind of pad (there are MANY) what speed, and what products to use and in what order. All that information is here you just have to find it.

You can make the car look awesome. But its not gonna kill you to drive it like that for a week, even a few weeks while you slowly assemble the tools and products and learn the skills you're going to need to do the job right. We're all here to help, but before we can really help you you MUST have a basic knowledge to apply what you're being told to. That knowledge can be learned here but it will take time.

When I joined Autopia I read for days before I ever posted. Its been a lot of work and I'm STILL learning, but my car looks great, and I've used my Autopia knowledge to bring cars worse than that one back ;)

This is a search on the Porter Cable polisher

A GREAT thread on accesorizing the PC

Read the Hall of Fame section, and just listen in on all the conversation going on. Familiarize yourself with Autopia's trademark abbreviations, you'll be surprised how fast a working background will come.

Once you have that background all the advice that we can give you will be SO much more helpful.
