Preventing garage parking accidents

I bought one of those "cool traffic light looking deals" @ Bed, Bath & Beyond for $19.99 less $5. coupon and after much grief & headaches, one returned unit, I have decided that it just doesn't "ping" off my CR-V. The only reason I can figure is that the driveway is a slight slope up to the garage, and there is nothing for it to "ping" off until I'm in the garage. Anybody else have similar experiende? Was it "solvable"? I just want something "cooler" than a tennis ball for my new V! Actually, I'm getting pretty good at judging my position, but I still think the light is "cool" - if it only worked!!!

G.E. makes a version of that device that you can buy at Circuit City.

As long as it doesn't let the reverse gear 'push' it along the floor, sounds good (the ball and string thing been working foolproof ( at least for my kids)for years thought )
