Preventing contamination from bonding?

Hi, this is my very first post so if something like this has been answered in the past sorry.

Here's my question:

After using claybar on my car + polishing and wax, it only takes a couple of days before something bonds to the surface. I try my best to wash my car every week yet it only takes couple days for something to bond to the surface. This really frustrates me since I spend many many hours on my car.

What can I do to delay the proccess of contaminates from bonding to the surface.?

I say surface meaning the wax I guess since it sits above clear coat. I can't say what the contaminates are.

I use Pinnacle Souveran BYTW.

What do you mean by "contaminants"? Is this something you can feel? or something you can see? And if it's something you see, could you give us some description?

evenq - Welcome to Autopia! Like Lynn, I could use a little more/clearer info. Some of this stuff is sorta hard to verbalize, huh? But I THINK I know what you're talking about, having used Souveran for ages.

Souveran is, in my experience, a sorta "soft" wax. Especially in the hot sun. "Stuff" does sorta bond to it as opposed to, well, slipping off (or washing off in the rain). Cars that I've done with other products seem to stay a lot cleaner, a lot longer. Maybe you'd be happier with a synthetic, but of course it won't look quite like the Souveran. Who knows, maybe you'll like the different look even better. BTW, I've recently switched from Souveran to P21S, but that's on a garage queen that doesn't get dirty.

Hi welcome to Autopia evenq. :welcome

By "contaminants" do you mean the type of gritty junk that get stuck to the paint and requires claying to remove?

I'm not sure if they really do better at preventing this, but you might want to do some searching about polymer sealants and how they protect. You could put a few coats of synthetic on and then top it off with your Souveran. Klasse used to be the favourite for this combo.

I guess contaminats that you can feel, I don't think it is tree sap since most of the time I could wipe that off with a QD. It does seem like things like to bond to Souveran because I use to use #26 liquid and that seem to protect better but does not have the depth of Souveran.

May be I should go with applying servral coats of AIO and topping with Souveran as many of you seem to be doing.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

evenq- After hearing how you DIDN'T have the problem with #26, I'm even more convinced it's the "Souveran soft wax" effect. So I'm not sure that a synthetic under the Souveran will really solve your problem.

But if you want to try it, I guess I'd say to either use one coat of AIO, followed by a few coats of SG, THEN your Souveran, or use PUPP or BFII or EX followed by the Souveran. I myself would go with the PUPP.

Maybe you oughta consider switching from the Souveran to P21S. Not as soft as Souveran, but still better looking than the #26.
