Pressure Washing

I am starting to wonder something. about the pressure washing buisness as well. does anyone here offer it and if so how much more profitable than detailing is it???
reason i ask is because a friend of mine started his buisness in pressure washing when i did and he has already gotten more customers than i have gotten so far. maybe its my way of advirtising or something but i am thinking of adding pressure washing services to my buisness

I wouldn't say that one is more profitable than the other. Depends on how hard you are willing to work at it. However, you can be more diversified when offering pressure washing services such as houses, concrete, roofs, etc. I have been in this biz for three years now and I assure you it's not quick money. Too many people buy a pressure washer and say I'm in the biz....needless to say, they don't last long. If it's what you want to do, do your homework first. Just my 2c. Good luck.

someone just introduced steam pressure washing here, http://www.7carwash.com/clean1300.htm and due to them getting exposure in the local paper, their business has been on the up. They claim to wash a car with only about 2 cups of water and it cost only usd $14 in 20 or so mins....I have also seen some 'amateur'/roadside "detailer" offering washing and polishing for around usd $25, how can any detailer compete with that price..that's why I can't even name one pro detailer round here,sad...

there not really pressure washing cars. but they are doing houses and other stuff and what not. my friend made 300 in one day doing some lady's house thats why i am wondering if pressure washing wouldnt be more profitable and would be worth looking into for the future

yeah my friend all he did was buy a pressure washer and say he was in the biz. i warned him to make sure he knew what he was doing first and he keeps saying its really really easy. honestly i think he is going to end up messing something up but i could be wrong.it'll be interesting to see how long his pressure washing biz lasts.

That is the main core of my business, and yes it is much more profitable for me to do it than detailing. If you are planning on going after it with a cold water unit, don't bother. You will make a lot more with a quality hot water unit. You do have to sell in order to make money though.

Hey Overtheedge-
Nice quote in your sig. I love Churchill quotes, they're witty and frankly damn funny.

I got a cheap Karcher 1600 psi unit for $35 on clearance. It does the trick for under the fenders and undercarriage. It has plastic parts and will likely not stand up to commercial use, but for once a week home use, it does fine.
