Pressure Washer Recommendations

OKAY iam gettting a new pressure washer,
1. I would like to get something that can draw water from my water tank
2. something reliable, a good pump, and engine, if a part breaks i would like to be able to actually find and replace that part.....
the current pw that i have has a chinese engine (when i bought it i thought it was a briggs and stratton, i was wrong,) parts are breaking, i am having carb problems it leaks gas......its junk and no one has parts for it, it cost me 300 bucks, i got my moneys worth out of it but i only had it for a few months
 
I have been looking at the Dewalt unit at Home Depot. Honda Commercial engine, and a General Pump. I think for about $699. For some reason, their website doesn't have it listed.

That's the one I'm getting myself for Christmas though if I can swing it for $200 more I can step up to the 13 H.P. version. I certainly don't need something like this for cars or even the smaller of the two but I've got 1/3 of an acre of cement to clean and doing this with a hose takes me over 3 hours. I'm done with that gig.
 
I haven't decided if I will be buying that Dewalt unit, or step up another $200 and go for a Hotsy with a 6 year warranty on the pump.
 
will the dewalt 2800 work with a water tank or would i have to get another pump, how can you tell or what will a pressure washer have that will extract water from the tank w/o an added pump?

After about a month of research on pressure washers, I finally ordered one. I'm getting it from a local pw seller, but it's being made by Pressure Pro. You can do a google search on them and see what they offer. I was worried about getting one that would work well w/ a tank feed water supply, and I also wanted one that would recirculate the water back through the tank so that I wouldn't have to worry about damaging the pump. The pw I'm getting has a Honda GX (commerical grade) not GC 5.5 HP and a General pump that is already plumbed to recirculate the water. I'm getting a 24" wand rather than a 36" so I can be a little closer to the car w/o the added risk of getting the water stream too close. I'm having to come out of pocket more than I expected, but I would rather pay a little more and buy from someone local. I'm might even get a customer from the business. The cost of the total package is 900.00 I was hoping to for around 700, but at least I know it's going to work w/ a water tank. I hope this helps.

As long as you mount the tank higher than the inlet, gravity will do its job. That is what I was told by my local Hotsy distributor. @ $200 more, their unit comes with a pressure unloader and a 6 year warranty on the pump. Correct me if I am wrong but, I do not believe the Dewalt comes with an unloader, and only a 2 year warranty, maybe even less with commercial use.
 
The two things to look for in a quality pressure washer are:

Honda GX engine
CAT Pump

I've been in that business for many years.

We run an 18hp vanguard and an AR pump and they are oustanding.900+ hours and still running strong.

Cat pumps are pricey to rebuild and/or replace.General,AR or Comet all build quality,reliable pumps that cost a fraction of the Cat and rebuild parts are readily available.
The vanguard serious motor from B&S is designed for commercial use and they will take a beating.The key to any small engine is maintenance;oil,oil filter and air filter changes will give any small engine a longer life spam.We run snythetic oil in our engines they seem to run smoother.
 
i just bought a dewalt 2800 with a honda engine and cat pump, i used it once, its a VERY VERY high quality machine it a bought 800 or 850 i think at home depot, super nice, highly recommended...... the funny thing is this is the cheapest one dewalt makes
 
I'm glad you bit the bullet before I was ready to buy it, and that it is up to par. Anything you don't like about it? Is it loud? Is it a Cat pump or General?

This washer is still on my Christmas list to myself. My local Home Depot was selling this machine at $699 however. I've seen the 9 H.P. at $849 at Sam's Club a couple of weeks ago. I hadn't seen it there previously and don't know if it is a regularly stocked item. Gotta love the GX engine with proper maintenance the engine will be running 20 years from now.

Nah, the pump hasn't failed me yet. But when it does, I will replace the pump with something more durable.
Today, I had washer problems, it would not stay running. Ticked me off. Took it to a guy I know, and he pulled the carb off and dimantled it. Cleaned it all up, looked like new....still could not get it to fire. Pulled the plug, and it looked fine. Had spark.....racked our brains....
Finally, as a last resort, changed the plug, and it fored right up....
the simplest things,......I tell ya.....
 
O.K. I purchased my pressure washer last night. I held out and bought the 13 H.P. DeWalt unit. I have no idea why I need 3750 P.S.I. of pressure washer but it looks pretty nice. I bought it primarily to wash my concrete which comes out to about 1/4 of an acre of it. The only thing I will use it for on a vehicle is under carriage cleaning.
