Bah Humbug.
Been having trouble with it the past few days.
Honda 5.5 HP motor with a Karcher pump.
Nothing wrong with the pump at all. It is a motor problem.
Darn thing did not want to stay running. Changed the oil, and the gas.
Took it to my friend, and he tore the carb apart and cleaned it like new. Made sure everything was fine, hoses weren't cracked, linkages were not stuck, etc...
still nothing. Switched out the plug, which looked brand new, and it fired up.
Ran for a day. Just got done with a wash today, and it died twice on me.
Brought it home and decided to wash my truck with it. Nope. No start.
Squirted starting fluid in it, and it fired until the starting fluid dried up.
So it has to be fuel related. Running to SEARS tomorrow for that part. If that does not fix it....Iwill most likely buy a new washer...

Electric or gas? Which models do you suggest?
 
Chris..do you have a long enough fuel line where you can put a clear fuel filter on...that way you get clean fuel and also see if fuel is getting to the carb...also make sure the vent hole is cleared on the gas cap...if there is one...also maybe the float is sticking in the closed position and not filling the bowl..or maybe just a clog some where....sometimes you need to run a fine wire in the carb body orifices and also in the jet and float valve orifice...sometimes blowing air does not free a particle

remove the plug and pull it over to check spark..I know you said it fired with the ether...but check again now that it will not run...you should have a nice blue spark..if orange you have a weak link in the ignition..either a coil or electronic pointless module..


also check the kill switch...for good connection and a ground....

When the carb was off, every hole and line was blwn out with air. Float was free and clean. Only think I thought it was now was the vacuum shut-off valve, but I removed the line running to the carb to see if fuel flows out the line. Then I rapidly pulled the starter string and and seen fuel come out. So that told me it was good. I ran through Manual again, and seen it has a low oil cutoff. So I made sure the oil level was full, which it was.

It still would not start, so I pulled the plug out again. It looked a little wet. I wasn't sure if it was from flooding or the starting fluid I sprayed in the carb.
Anyways, I layed the plug out and pulled the cord, and it had a nice spark. I then put it back in and pulled and pulled....nothing.

Out of options, I pulled the plug back out, sprayed the heck out of it with starting fluid. I then Sprayed in the plug hole with starting fluid. Put the plug back in and fired it up. Ran like a champ. It had a black ball of smoke at first, but then creared right up. I stopped and started it about a dozen times and different throttle positions. Still fired up.

SO, dirty combustion chamber? Stuck valve?

I will however, add a small inline fuel filter tomorrow.
 
How old is it? I forgot what kind of warrenty they come with. Maybe you can call the help line and tell them you story?

I wish i could help you but everything you've done so far is what i would have done.
 
I know it might sound a lil' simple, and ya probably already did it , but what about the air filter -- did ya replace/check it??
 
Wonder if whatever checks the oil level is causing a shut off / no start. My current generator seemed to have some sludge built up and even after changing oil and checking level it took a little bit before it would start. My old generator I could just disconnect it.
 
Did you clean the plug with a wire brush, check the gap, and the burn rating of the plug to match the origanal one that came with the generator. All of this should be in the mannual. You can get a spark plug gap meter at auto zone for a buck I belive. I would do this before you buy a new one (if you havent already done this of course). I know you said it was running but this really should be check so it wont happen again. And if you get a new one you want to send the old one to me:) i'm not kidding its worth trying to fix.
