Pressure Washer Help

Nice and Cool
I read on another site that carrying your own water supply allows you to cycle bypass water from the pressure washer back into the fresh water supply. This process keeps the pump running cool and dramatically extends pump life. Not sure I understand what they mean. Any ideas? I have a Troy Built 2550 with 6.75 Briggs and a 150gal. water tank.

Thanks

It's a thermal relief valve that pumps the water back in the tank rather than circulate it in the pump. You only need it if you use your pressure washer quite a bit and have it running for periods of time without pressing the trigger. Most detailers don't need it but it wouldn't hurt to have it.

Mine is electric and I just turn it off as I soap the car down, so I've never needed a relief valve.
